I actually liked how they did Mysterio and the way he portrayed himself as a good guy had be me believing that Jake Gyllenhall could be a very good Green Lantern.

I'm pleased as hell to see Nick Fury is not going anywhere anytime soon in the MCU. He's one of the best characters in this universe.

But other than that, this movie just felt weird to me.

Maybe it's me getting tired of the teeny bopper high school bullcrap for the last few movies with the stereotypical fat friend, weird teachers and typical high school drama.

I can't wait for Peter to be a grown man out on his own and being fricking Spider-Man kicking arse and taking names.

Oh and MJ in this movie just sucks arse. Her "relationship" with peter is just forced as hell to me. Give me the real MJ that's actually comic book accurate and actually looks hot instead of this pretender wanna be that's annoying as hell.

Just saw it. The mid fight was so perfect and how I would imagine Mysterio. It made the final fight a bummer. Another army swarm fight. Would have really loved another illusion heavy battle instead.

Not a fan of Zendaya as pseudo MJ. She’s not that interesting or attractive - I wouldn’t say she’s ugly or hideous. If she wasn’t an actress and you saw her walk past you on the street, would you give her a second look? Absolutely not. If I was swiping through on tinder, I’d probably swipe right unless she had an obnoxious profile.

There’s nothing organic with her and Pete. Dude loves his peanut butter cup babes with no arse though. How Disney found the only biracial women on earth with no arse and put them both into one movie franchise is one of life’s great mysteries.

Are people really complaining that the 15 year old character isn't hot enough?

She’s suppose to be 17 but Zendaya is like 23-24.

Just got out of it and I loved it. I cracked the frick up when Happy attempted that pitiful shield throw. That shite was hilarious. Plenty of feels as well. I’m still bummed about Tony being gone. It sunk it quite a bit with this movie.

All of the secondary characters grew on me and thought they worked well. I didn’t know how I was going to feel about the MCU post-Endgame but this movie got me excited for the future.

I was off by two years. Still essentially underage.

Yea when Peter got the glasses and when Happy fired up the AC/DC while Peter was gearing up it hit me real good

Personally, I don't care about any of the MJ's. None of those Mjs are worth a damn anyway. The real Mj exists only in comic books and unfortunately, we're in short supply of that kind of woman these days.

Sam Raimi's MJ was a confused, treacherous flake (nothing like the loyal, passionate, caring, but determined MJ from the comics). No one wants a confused woman that has flaky loyalty.

Zendaya's MJ is too emo for me. It's bland. I don't like it. I feel the real-life Zendaya has more romantic chemistry with Tom Holland than on screen.

The videogame MJ is well...the chicken breast of women. Dry, tasteless, and unsatisfying. She's always getting into shite, getting pissy with Peter for like no good reason, keeps compromising his life because she wants to get into shite, and has the nerve to not want to cook for him? WTF?

I just can't get with any of these MJ's because none of them are real. Like the best love interest, he's had on screen has been Gwen. That's a solid chick.

Taskmaster, Black Widow. Norman Osborn will be behind Sonny Burch and the Taskmaster.

Saw it last night.

Super underwhelmed. Definitely on the low tier of the MCU. It had it's good parts and I can see why somebody could like it, but it didnt impress me at all. A few complaints...

- Im glad I watched in IMAX bc that did help the experience and it was really funny, but im not a fan of how most of the MCU movies are almost all 1/2 comedies now (minus Dr. Strange IW and Endgame maybe?). Not sure if there was any part of the movie that I could take serious.

- I liked the look of Mysterio, they pulled that off nice, but his character over all was BY FAR the worst part of the movie. So the bad guy was a good guy with good intentions but he was just bitter. The only thing that made him bad was that he didnt care that there were casualties from his shows. He ended up basically playing with drones to try and kill Spiderman and his four friends.

There were a few other minor things that bugged that wouldnt have made it a bad movie in themselves, I thought there were a few lot holes, but add them to the major parts I didnt like, it add up to a below average MCU movie.

Funniest part to me is when after they got off the plane Betty walked up to Ned and they kissed and called each other babe. Straight up fell in love on the plane. I was dying laughing. Peter was like wtf thats what I was trying to do. Reminded me of the scene in Freaks and Geeks when Bill and the cheerleader were locked in the makeout room and got to make out when it was his buddy that was trying the hardest to make out with someone.

Completely opposite for me. I was already getting burned out but Infinity War and Endgame kind of got me excited again, but after walking out of this I just felt like I did before, that im going to be ok not seeing many of them from here on out if they dont look good. My brother who is a huge MCU movie guy, felt the same way after getting out.

But I am more critical with them than most bc I dont like the movies just bc they are MCU and think they can do no wrong like so many do.

So...

2 movies?

Out of 22 movies, 11 shows (totaling 353 episodes), and 5 shorts... 2 movies have you saturated for a particular genre?

this was middle school to a "t" for me. we always used field trips (both day trips and a couple of weekend trips that the gifted program took) to develop "relationships". that shite never worked, but we were always trying. as if sitting next to someone on a bus for 2 hours is going to be the sparkplug needed to get things moving.

I just hate how just about everything in the MCU is tied to Tony Stark.
I love iron man and RDJ too but it's beyond ridiculous at this point.

Maybe true, but this is how you build an interconnected universe...

There was Iron Man 1-3 but at least three more were essentially Iron Man movies.

People were balling crying in the theater when he died. I liked him as well, but I thought he was over used and just for that reason I was ready for him to go. And I think he died in epic fashion, so i'll give them that.

I guess I have to initiate the friendly debate since you posted first and nobody responded to mine...

Another super fun outing for Spider-Man.

It was fun and I know these need to be fun. You want a good experience at the theater and its a kid in high school so it's not The Dark Knight. BUT, this movie isnt aimed to just teenagers and was there any part of this movie that had any adult aspect to it? Or maybe suspense is the better question. Was there anything that was suspenseful? It was pretty much all play. So you get the fun, but nothing else.

quote:

The humor works really well, pretty much all of the way through.

It was funny, there were multiple parts a cracked up at, not just chuckled. But that kind of goes along with my previous statement. Marvel almost as a whole has turned into comedies.

quote:

Gyllenhall as Mysterio was great. Top 5 MCU villains, and the way they built Mysterio's powers into the world was smart. Just so well done to take a villain like Mysterio and make him work. This is one of the MCU's biggest positives is connecting the comics together and making it all relevant to the world they've built.

This I dont get. I feel like he was easily one of the worst villains they have ever done. He was barely a villain. I know he wanted to kill PP and his friends and didnt care if there were casualties, but, as far as villains go, thats pretty weeak. His pep rally speech showed us his motivation and I was sitting there thinking "well that aint that bad."

I mentioned it in my post earlier but unless im missing something, he was a bad guy, who genuinely wanted to do good things, but went about it in the wrong way." At no point did I think, wow, this guy is evil. I mean he controlled drone attacks, ok. Give me a computer wristband and a headset and I could do the same stuff Mystereo is doing.

quote:

This made both Mysterio battles awesome. That first battle was one of the better sequences in the MCU. The double-lies just kept you guessing.

But they were fake scenes. The best fight scenes were an illusion.
