Anyone else going tonight? I'm about to head over there for the midnight premiere.

I guess we can make this the spoiler thread as well.

Will add to the title when I get back.

Just got home. Will post a longer review tomorrow but for now...

SPOILER-FREE THOUGHTS

I liked it. Not sure if I liked it more than Homecoming though, but maybe another viewing will help with that. Though Gyllenhaal was good. Ned is still one of my favorite supporting characters in the MCU. And Marisa Tomei... wow.

A few complaints and a few questions, but will get into that discussion tomorrow.

Just got out.

I’m with you. Not as good as Homecoming.

Peter Tingle had me cracking up.

Are the elementals fun at all? They seem kind of bland and generic.

Just got out and I loved it. Two takeaways:

1. I’m excited about the future direction. The reintroduction of J. Jonah Jamison and continuing to use JK Simmons is brilliant. Love that they are going back to Spider-Man, menace. Not sure about revealing Peter’s identify, we’ll see how that goes.

2. Marisa Tomei is hot as frick.

Jameson was a welcome addition. Can't wait to see his interactions with Holland's Parker.

What was up with the Skrulls & Nick Fury? Was that their way of transitioning Fury to the Space side of the MCU since the space and Earthbound stories aren't supposed to converge like they did in the Infinity Saga?

Not sure how they approach that since now Jamison knows that Parker is spider-man. Means that Parker shouldn't be able to proceed to work for him at the Bugle, which might not exist and might be some online news outlet.

I thought this one was a lot of fun again. Not being big into the comics, i was surprised about the plot around the Elementals and Mysterio but really liked both lines of it.

I am not a fan of the new MJ in any sense really. I don't think she is very cute nor an interesting character.

Ned is great as he was in the first. Really funny that he had a girlfriend for the trip and they broke up on the way home. Literally the complete opposite of his plan going to Europe.

Happy and May were really good in it.

Mysterio was great as a villain and hate that he died at the end. He could've provided some great scenes in the future films too with his intellect.

Really surprised they haven't brought Osborne into the universe at all yet that we've seen. Neither harry nor Norman have been around.

I liked Flash more in this one. He is just a douche and once you accept it, the kid does a good job of it.

I really liked it. Maybe not as much as Homecoming but I liked it a lot. I agree with MJ. She started to become more likeable towards the end but she has to evolve as a character or she will become stale really quick.

Honestly, I’m kind of craving Spidey to be back in and protect New York and become a little bit more of a badass. Homecoming was basically all Queens and FFH was all Europe. And I enjoyed seeing him in those environments and I’ve enjoyed seeing him grow, but I want to see him, both as Peter and Spider-Man, grow more and become the badass, wise cracking Spidey we all know and love that protects New York.

You saw glimpses of how badass he could be with the drone fight at the end, but it still feels like his fighting abilities have training wheels on them

I love how they make J. Jonah out to be Alex Jones news media type. JK Simmons is the perfect person to play him. No one came top that.

Agreed on the point that it's a weird dynamic with Jameson already knowing about Peter being Spidey. Guess the photog gig is out of the question.

I’m also guessing the next logical step is to introduce Chameleon or maybe Kraven to hunt down Peter Parker/Spider-Man or try to turn the city against him and get him arrested

I hope he’s in two movies. Spider-Man and Black Panther

Gonna be odd to see them make stand alone Spider-Man movies where people know his identity

His secret identity is almost as connected to his character as it is for Batman

I must be in the minority here then... I sincerely thought it was the best Solo MCU film

I don't know about best solo MCU film, but my first impression was that I liked it more than Homecoming.

There's only a couple of MCU movies that can be considered solo films.

Yep. Only thing that sucks is Peter not working at the Bugle. But I'm so glad JK Simmons is back as JJJ. But everyone knowing his identity is going to be interesting.

Yeah I thought Gyllenhaal was great. And Mysterio is in the top tier of villains in this MCU. Im hoping he comes back in future movies, because there really wasn't a fine line between illusion and reality in this movie, and his line at the end makes me hope he isn't fully gone.

To be fair, this might be the first official "solo movie for Peter in this universe, so hopefully we get him in the next one.

So I had a question about him at the end. when he is getting picked up at the airport, he asked where/why his mom didn't come get him. Is there a deeper meaning to this? I feel like this is more than just a throw away line for future movies. That and the fact that now that he knows Spiderman's identity, he may grow to hate him.
