quote:for those of us who stayed up late with USA Network we caught an even YOUNGER Diane Lane topless in The Fabulous Stains.
second for me after Streets of Fire the previous year (along with a crisp 19 yr old Diane Lane) ,
Not sure how USA network got away with that in 1982.

Remember being in High School and my dad and I watched this not really knowing anything about it or what it was about.
At the end of the movie we just looked at each other and at the same time said, damn that was great.

At the end of the car chase the traffic is in the left lane like in England. This must be a mistake right? Any other explanation?

Friedkin did that on purpose.

Watched this movie for the first time over the weekend. Wild movie. Chance just oozes testosterone and impulse the entire movie. Dafoe is elite.
The '80s setting and style is a really awesome snapshot in time. When I was growing up I kind of resented the 80s style and pop culture, but as I've aged, I 've found an appreciation for it.
They don't make movies like this anymore really. All gas, no brakes, no apologies. Not much sentiment or melodrama, no outdrawn exposition of backstory. Just in your face, dirty action, but with beautiful, interesting cinematography and a fun soundtrack.
Friedken(really Robby Muller) makes L.A. look so dystopian, and post-industrial. It's ugly, and kinda scary, but also really pretty to look at.
The scene where Dafoe is making the counterfeit money is incredible. I am an absolute sucker for scenes like that that don't tell you anything, but show you everything in an incredibly interesting way.
