Just watched Tin Cup on the Golf Channel. I think I’ve seen this 20 times but not recently.
What a great comedy. Well written and a superb cast that did a great job.
My wife and I noticed that even playing the bad guy Don Johnson is so charismatic that he’s still likeable.
And Rene Russo...damn.

Hell, yes. Cheech could be my caddy anytime as long as he brings the goods.

Great one liners too..
“What would he know? He only won this tournament before you were born”
“You either define the moment or the moment defines you”
“My swing feels like a folded up lawn chair”
“Sometimes par is good enough”
This has to be in the top 3 of greatest golf movies of all time. Every golfer alive has used a Tin Cup reference.

Romeo’s followup was just as good. “Oh it was a defining moment alright, and the definition was shite”

Great one for sure. Kostner still having his problems but still serviceable.

"He hit that ball down the frickin road, didn't he?" is my absolute favorite line.
Also, when he goes to therapy in golf shoes with the cleats pulled out of them is pure manly gold.

So Tin Cup was shot on my home course at Kingwood country Club and Deerwood. My buddie’s aunt played the older brunette lady so we had an in, but legally you had to be 16 to be an extra in the movie and they filmed the ‘that’s the last ball you got Roy’ scene a week before my 16th birthday.
So all of my friends are front and center in the big climactic scene in the gallery and I’m nowhere.
Fun fact, the hole is actually just a short par 4 and the green has nowhere near the slope that would make a ball keep rolling off the front.

Followed by one of my favorite lines in the movie
"You the man, you the man Roy"
"The man who needs a ride home"
Tin Cup is one of my all time favorites. I am a huge Costner fan but that movie is just fun to watch. Really has everything

I hate golf but damn if that isn’t a fun movie.

The finale if this movie is one of my favorites.
::SPOILERS:: (not sure if needed for this but whatever)
Costner loses but has an epic finish and gets the girl
Don Johnson, the douche, finishes top 2, loses the girl but right away finds another one
So they both come out on top. And it's criminal that Don Johnson doesn't get more big acting roles.

What do you think you look like shooting chili dippers up Lee Jansens arse?!

If the golf channel isnt show a tournament, chances are, Tin Cup is going to be on.
Was reading your post and was going to ask how long was the par 5. So they were basically shooting that shot right by the women's tees.

"I'm going to qualify for the U.S. Open and kick your boyfriend's arse. Whatever you think of me, you should know he hates old people, children, and dogs."

Not arguing.
According to the Internet (which is always accurate and correct), the top golf movies are:
A Gentleman’s Game
Bobby Jones, Stroke of Genius
Dead Solid Perfect
Seven Days in Utopia
Greatest Game Ever Played
The Legend of Bagger Vance
The Greatest Game Ever Played
Happy Gilmore
Tin Cup
Caddyshack
What are your other 2?

For me it's Tin Cup, Caddy Shack, and Happy Gilmore. In that order.
I've used at least a dozen quotes from this movie. My favorite are
"I hit it again because that shot was a defining moment, and when a defining moment comes along, you define the moment... or the moment defines you."
Ole Mr. Three wiggle putter reference
A gust from the Gods
Speech as he snaps every club in his bag is gold.
Speech about the golf swing is also gold and accurate.
his speech about the love for the 7 iron
