so what about the millions of people on social media who say "just produce good content, don't ruin existing IP"

Yea, that would be social media driving expectations.

I saw the full trailer for the movie and honestly it doesn't look great. Just looks boring with a very unmotivating story and setting.

Also, Supergirl should be far more attractive.

Don’t really care.

I enjoyed Superman and just about everything James Gunn has done so I’m gonna watch it in the theater.

I'm saying the physical appearance of an actress matters to male viewers. I'm guilty of it. The interviewer asked her about it; she acknowledged it and brushed it to the side. Yet you all are still crying about it. It's weird.

You know who it matters to even more?...other women

They picked a white chick with blonde hair. They at least didn’t see how far from the IP they could go.

I'm not sure if he's being stupid intentionally or unintentionally. Famous people have been subject to caricatures and commentary for as long as there have been artists and critics.

Hell, I bet some Roman or Egyptian joked about Caesars hair line or Cleopatra having the nose of an Ibis

Likely somewhat accurate. But my guess is that it was her power and her ability to use her assets that most appealed to men.

*As for Millie's comments, they're nonsensical and come off as just more 'insufferable actress makes stupid remarks and attacks the very fans she SHOULD be courting to come see her movie.' Likely the studio knows the movie is mid at best and feel it necessary to fabricate some drama for clicks and views now rather than just let it hit or miss organically.

Is it okay to think someone doesn’t look right for a role without it being about good/bad, just the overall look? Especially for an iconic character.

Agreed.
Ultimately, the task is to produce a great show.
But when you cast Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher, you are going to get negative publicity covering the opinions of people who care/appreciate the story.

Ramón Rodriguez as Will Trent is another example.

Honestly, I doubt she says anything if not for the fact that the movie is having a good rough time of it. Apparently there have been multiple reshoots and very lukewarm reactions during test screenings.

I’m not saying that justifies her statement, but rather it seems like she knows it’s not a good sign of how the movie will do and is doing that “pre-attack” we’ve seen others do for movies like this in the past.

I mean, I’m tempted to just say we should make every movie with a straight white guy as the lead… not because that’s good for movies, but that it seems the only time we can actually say a shitty movie is just “shitty.” Any other time and we’re racist, sexist, homophobic… and it doesn’t matter about the actual quality of the movie.

It’s DOA, no successful movie/show does these preemptive attacks on fans and the show already had a tough path to success. It’s cooked

Ok, but can you provide some proof? Because I've known people that have attended test screenings, and you have to sign a very strict NDA. The studio will go after you if you're out there talking about the movie. So show me someone that attended and is going around talking about it. TIA

More than likely. Gunn made a mistake going with Supergirl as the 2nd film of his universe

Peacemaker season 2 was weak, and no one saw creature commandos. I'm sure he was expecting more from those two projects

That’s why they’re called sources. And not identified. The next time you hear somebody adding their name to these reports will be the last time that they do a screening.

These types of leaks have always come out. Generally but not always, they hold true. Also, the number of audience screenings tends to sync with how bad a movie is. The greater number of screenings and potential endings suggest the studio is trying to alter the story to better improve its chances in the theaters.
