This was a pretty interesting cinematic experience. It really aimed to make as mature a Godzilla movie as possible and it does the movie so much credit.

There’s so many characters you care about by the end of the movie you can’t help but feel mesmerized. Really feels like Star Wars in that sense I. How it all crescendos.

Great soundtrack. Effects are fine but a little derpy. No issue.

Only negative really is the movie is a little overly melodramatic with its main character to the point I was annoyed at him. I felt he was being a selfish shite and I was happy his boss called him out. It was a bit much.

Also, that’s a small aspect of the ending I felt was too ambiguous for how the story played out. It makes sense but whatever.

Anyway, melodrama aside, great movie. Looking forward to seeing. Ore from this new timeline

Is it dubbed in English, or subtitles?

Do you get a sense of despair for the human race, or is this your typical Godzilla anti-hero story?

There is a sense of despair in general. Although there is a sense of hope.

I wouldn’t say the main character is an anti-hero: more of a broken man still lost

He was a kamikaze pilot. That alone may not translate to many modern folk, especially here in the states. Even his own neighbor heaped scorn on him for his dishonorable(in their view) actions.

Mostly kidding. And I get your point. Even the clerk & Doc were a bit taken by his excessive pleading. But he was really tore up with the compound guilt.

Is this stand-alone or do I need to watch other movies first?

This is a reboot of the original 1954 Godzilla movie. No other movie is required though it might be fun to watch the original too

I wasn’t a big fan of the Godzilla model in this one. They kept emphasizing this FUPA thing that Godzilla had

Otherwise I thought the story was excellent, characters very likeable. Interesting Godzilla plot. Solid graphics. I saw it in a real IMAX and it was great, Godzilla was massive

I did really enjoy the opening scene with Godzilla. It was fantastic. The much smaller version was really cool

Oh and the OG Godzilla theme hit hard when they dropped it. Really well placed

I was impressed with the film and encourage people to give this one a shot in the theater.

Much stronger movie than your typical action or monster film. Well acted and very Japanese in a positive sense.

Go see this if you are on the fence or looking for something better viewed on the big screen. 9 out of 10 unless you just can't take a Godzilla movie seriously

How in the hell did they make this film for 15 Million? It's world wide box office is already at 38.9 million and that's with very little US marketing and a viewer score of 97%. This thing is going to kick pink Godzilla's arse.

The movie is adding theaters this weekend and extending its US release through the 14th.

It was also #1 at the box office for Monday, edging The Hunger Games, which made it the first non-English live action movie to hit #1 in almost two decades.

Makes me wonder why they were trying to usher it off the screens here in the US, just as Godzilla X Kong released its 1st trailer.

Thankfully, it's getting an extended run for another week. Maybe two.

Go watch.

Definitely

This is the best Godzilla film I have seen. And just a surprisingly good movie.

I hope it gets the positive word of mouth it deserves.

I thought this as well - kick arse placement at that point.

Man just saw this in XD (imax alternative). Pleasantly surprised and absolutely loved it. Really recommend seeing in theaters, great action, Godzilla was a scary looking MF up close. Loved the Japanese perspective of the war and its implementation into the plot.

I just got out of it. It was incredible, and such an amazing cinematic experience. They did a great job humanizing the characters throughout the film. I’m so glad I got to see it in theaters.

We watched it today. My son who has lived the Godzilla movies since he was 5-6 loved it. I thought it was pretty good but needed more Godzilla in the film.

My son was also helping me with all the different timelines and universe within Godzilla. If I'm being honest kinda pisses me off that sometimes he is good and sometimes he is bad. Wtf
