Sometimes people think making something "dark" and "gritty" means they're trying to make it "realistic" for some reason.

Alright. Im not gonna start one of those shitty "tell me what to watch" threads
I tried to get into the first 2 or 3 episodes of house of cards and bailed
Not feeling daredevil now. Thought about orange is new black. Is that a comedy series or what?
Anyway. thinking of trying house of cards

Most underrated character of season 1?
John Wesley
or
Ben Urich
Madame Gau.

This show punches that movie straight in it's nu-metal balls.

The Director's Cut is just as bad. The plot of the movie is horrible. Almost every character in the movie knows his secret identity and the acting is Batman and Robin level of campy horrible.
And I am not an Anti-Affleckite.

Presentation has a lot to do with it. The presentation of Arrow and Daredevil are fundamentally different and I'd argue that Arrow's presentation fits into the show better than Daredevil's.
With Arrow, we get a soap opera with heroes. It's painted in broad strokes.
With Daredevil, we get a detailed world, but the details don't hold up.

I disagree. I think Daredevil sets itself in it's world perfectly. I never saw a problem with this at all.

I watched the first two episodes and I'm still on the fence right now
Either way good god, can we stop the flashbacks? They signlehandley sabatoged the first two episodes that were quite good dispite them. The kid might be the worst child actor I've ever seen. And the "OMG I CANT SEE" no shite kid, you have gauze over you eyes, you wouldn't be able to see even if you weren't blind
I like the present day stuff tho.

I loved episode one and 2.
3 & 4 were a chore.
From the final scene of 5, until the end of the season. . .I was "The Wire"-level of hooked.

What dumb fricking lawyer does that.
Their whole premise as lawyers is to make a difference and help people. The point was to have a personal relationship with the woman and not be robots to where when she passed it meant more.
They are constantly going out of their way to help people and you find it unbelievable for them to help a woman in need?
Most super hero tv shows have been soap operas with hero action until now, we finally get something that can break the chains of soap opera and go all out and people gripe. They can't please everyone. Show is raved by critics, must be doing something right.
I've enjoyed it so far, binge watched the first 9 episodes and plan on finishing it up tomorrow. Already has me excited for pulse, Luke cage, iron fist and the defenders series coming as well.

This show is on a completely higher level than fricking Arrow.

I think the actor playing Foggy is miscast to the point that he is distracting, but otherwise I've enjoyed the first three episodes.

Loved the series, but Foggy got on my nerves. Yes he was totally miscast.

And I've yet to watch anything from Marvel or DC where I don't have to suspend some kind of belief along the way.
You mean you have to suspend belief of a fictional comic book super hero?
Exactly. How can this guy watch any movie or TV show period. At least the comic world expects you to have some suspension of belief.

I mean before your even watch if you haven't been living under a rock you know it's about a guy who is rendered blind but is able to fight crime better than more able bodies people.
You can only get so "real" in that premise.

This board is insane sometimes.
I don't know how some posters here are able to watch anything.

And it's a really well done show from what I can tell so far. I haven't gotten into the meat of the season yet but it's got a good cast and it doesn't seem ridiculously overacted (which can obviously happen with these shows).
It's definitely one of the better Netflix originals on there too. I guess I don't get the hate for it either.

Is it cool to hate on this because a lot of people like it now?

The Marvel movies are filmed a certain ingenious way. They are filmed for pure enjoyment. They allow us to look past some of the inherent silliness leaving us with simple enthusiasm.
See, I don't get that impression. I think there are just many moments in the movies where you're all but too aware that this serious action drama you're watching unfold you are watching is comic book fair.
Tv which is serial in nature just like comics seems a more natural fit to me on the small screen than the big one.
Where they can easier mix the more light hearted plot lines in with the serious ones much like the comics themselves.
Though I will admit I like the comic book movies this decade so far much more than the ones they started churning out the last half of 00s.
