They didn't at first, but I think it ended with a big dyke party. I enjoyed the series but they still did the ham-fisted insertion of the message towards the end.

My wife and 13 year old have been looking forward to this, so we watched the first episode last night.
It was pretty bad. It felt like a CW show. Acting was stale to bad. Everyone is very clean and pretty for being on the frontier.
My 13 year old got bored and asked how much longer at one point.
No “wokeness” or whatever, unless a black doctor is “woke”.
I doubt I continue. My wife and daughter may power through it.

This won’t last more than 1 or 2 seasons. It’ll end up like the Walker Texas Ranger reboot.

I'm not the media fan some of you are but I still only recognized one name from that cast. They didn't exactly break the bank getting talent.

Well, I tried watching first episode. This is based around Independence, KS btw, not Minnesota. The first person the family comes in contact with is a black doctor who is just wandering in the woods for some reason. He gives a little advice on where to find supplies and who to ask about land. Laura then sees a young Indian girl which is plausible. Once they arrive in town they go to the mercantile store run by a black lady. They don’t find any other white people until Charles goes to the saloon, of course, where the landman is found. I think I’m calling it quits. Good luck to the Ingles in Kansas.

Well, I may have to eat some crow. The real life Laura Ingalls younger sister was delivered by Dr. Tann who was a black doctor. Pretty rare in the 1870’s.

Haven't seen it but it's been heavily criticized by purists. The Ingalls are wealthier than they were IRL and wear nicer clothes. They speak like 21st century Americans. They are friendly with the Indians when Ma hated them IRL, etc.
Allison Arngrim, the original Nellie Olsen, had a cameo playing an old lady and that was apparently a hoot.

It's not bad, but it is very slow. I think I'm on episode 5 and ive been hoping it picks up, but it hasn't so far.
