Sounds like the perfect show to remake.

Came into this thread fully expecting bro to wig out over “woke” tropes that aren’t even in it. Was not disappointed.

Jesus Christ, I was making joke about the Netflix stereotype

I don't think they are going to do it.

But watching you wokies get offended is never NOT fun, so. . .

The town doctor is a black dude, so there ya go.

Because if there was one thing the 1800's frontier had a lot of, it was highly educated black people practicing medicine and a bunch of really enthusiastic customers lined up to see them.

Black people made up one in four cowboys in the frontier days.

Netflix is proud of their "inclusion guidelines".... on and off screen. tLHotP will surely reflect the values Netflix has embraced, no?

"Netflix focuses on diverse representation in its films and series, analyzing content using 22 indices of inclusion including gender, race, sexuality, and disability. They work with the USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative to analyze U.S. original content and publish findings every two years."

This was explored in the original series. Doc Baker hired a black doctor, trained as a surgeon, to help him. Of course, only Charles was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. The rest of the town shunned the new doc. Charles had to knock out an expectant father so the black surgeon could save the day and deliver his wife’s baby by c-section.

It was one of my favorite episodes.

If Charles is not the moral compass of this show, it will be stupid. I., for one will probably not watch. There’s no need for this show.

I think this is a cool re-make if they don't screw it up. It needs to be family friendly with the same life lessons being taught. They don't need to cater to the adult crowd with cursing and innuendo and sexual situations.

The point of the show was dealing with a plethora of situations the kids and adults faced and the challenges in life. Yet the family sticks together. If it is anything but this, it is crap.

Pa was the moral compass of the show even though he went thru some tough scenarios he wasn't perfect. Hopefully it keeps that aspect of the show. I've wondered if that is how the books were too or was it emphasized with TV.

don't know why, but I just can't get into newer made shows or movies that are remakes. The actors and actresses often seem generic. Almost all young actors of today seem the same to me.

It's because they're all drama nerds with no screen presence, charisma, or gravitas
