I was always terrified watching that show as a kid. If felt like some tragic event was always looming. Very depressing. Even when things were going good with everybody happy, it was always a matter of time before someone was ran over by a horse, fell out of a tree, fell off a ladder and land on a pitch fork, etc.

Akchully Charles Ingalls was kind of a shyster, full of big plans that rarely worked out, and not above leaving town in the middle of the night to skip out on his debts. People generally went west looking for easy money, were on the lam from something, or because they weren't making a go of it where they were.
By the time his kids were grown he had made something of himself and was a solid enough citizen to serve on the school board, but a lot of it was touch and go getting there.
Laura loved her Pa and she was clearly his favorite; a good bit of whitewashing goes on in her books.

Still not sure which ones are unhinged.
I will say something like "I think "Bros" is going to bomb, nobody but gay dudes and purple-haired hairy-pit white women want to see that type of thing. . .and that audience is way smaller than they are estimating"
Then I will get some wokie randos, as well as the usual suspects say something like, "Well good thing most movie-goers don't think like you, you unhinged bigot", then the inevitable "you MAGA or you Commie", depending on whatever subreddit does their thinking for them
Followed by little wokie NPCs blubbering
Then the movie bombs, and they say,
"well, obviously it was always going to bomb because pandemic/The Noid/homophobia/marketing/Russiagate/etc"

I think there’s a chance they don’t go to off the rails with this. Netflix did a remake of Anne of Green Gables and I don’t remember them going to crazy with it. May have added a black family in the community, but that was about it. That was 8 years ago though, so who knows.
