I think they did this on purpose. Used her race and faux moral superiority to get many viewers to be on her side way longer than it should be.

Opposite with Shane, he is wronged by the hotel over and over again but people still hate him because he is embodiment of white rich male.

Interesting. If that’s the case, then brav-fricking-o to the writers.

Feel like I watched a different show than this board. The cast was strong but the plot sucked. All this “great show” and “perfect finale” .. like what? After getting 2 episodes in, I didn’t love it but said screw it 6 episodes I’ll power through and hope for the payoff. Show does a good job of keeping you guessing and thinking for 6 episodes “is this gonna be where somebody dies?” but the first time in a while I was actually happy when a show was over. Rain in the downvotes and everyone is entitled to their own opinion. My opinion was the show was just not very good.

I never felt once that they were trying to win us over to Paula’s side. She was terrible from the opening scene. I actually enjoy the fact that they portrayed her as such a selfish person.

I didn’t get the rich white guy thing from Plop. He was just an a-hole plain and simple.

I agree the plot sucked and I didn't like the finale. Overall, I felt this show was very lacking and had a bunch of annoying characters. Even Daddario's character only married for money and we're supposed to be surprised or sad for her that it's not going well. Lol

Yeah, the finale was underwhelming.

The best part was how the “trophy wife” was talking to Belinda. Here is this rich, white, untalented girl actually bitching about being a “trophy wife” to someone who is just trying to make a living for herself.

Maybe. But that is done so much, I just didnt feel that way. She is everything that is wrong with todays world and I wanted something bad to happen to her.

She got a free pass for what she did. She should have been locked up. I guess she got to experience some privilege afterall

I was a little surprised that Armond was the one who got it. I totally expected him to kill Dadarios husband. It was not what I expected so they did a good job

Overall I think the finale was a tad dull. I liked some of the outcomes but I was expecting more.

Love the show and will be watching next season

Overall I liked the finale. A few thoughts.

The kids staying in Hawaii was stupid. Of course he wants to stay. Even if he ran at the airport, don’t you think his parents are waiting for him in first class and notice he never got on the plane? What’s a 16 year old plan to live in the most expensive state in the country?

So what do you think ended up happening with Dadario in the end? She knows she wants to be a trophy wife? I mean they go back home together but no way that marriage last more than a year.

Anyone notice that nightgown on Daddario? Good God

Starting to think Armand job was safe but he just lost it and went off deep end
Day after day of kissing arse to the rich and pampering their every need put him over the edge
The whole reason for Kai to steal the jewelry made absolutely no sense

I agree with jimboslice. This show was undewhelming and quite boring. But since it was 6 episodes, I can hang in there. I was glad its over. There was no substance to the show that HBO is known for.

I did not like PLOP getting his wife back at the end.

Well said. I fricking hated her character, and was hoping something bad would happen to her. At first watch it may seem she gets away scot free, but as you said, she’ll have to live with fricking over Kai forever. Sounds like a pretty good punishment.

I don't know. She's so conceited and vapid that she will likely forget all about this after a relatively short period of time. shite, in that last scene at the airport, she's already back to being fake smart girls with Olivia. Unless Kai rolls over on her in jail, she gets away scot free, which is a shame.

And like Stonehog said, she wants to be a woke warrior, but she's not. At all. But what she is actually is a gigantic piece of shite. She's your typical idiot kid that thinks she is better than everyone (despite hanging around with other people that think they are better than everyone too). And she pretends to give a shite about woke stuff and oppression and all that, but all she really wants to do is go on free vacations with her BFF and get baked and blitzed out of her mind on drugs. And on top of that, she tries to set up a family who, let's face it, has earned their fortunes, all so she can impress some island "minority" (and Kai isn't a minority in fricking Hawaii anyway) that she is banging. And moreover, she thinks it is justified to steal shite from that family because of some made up, perceived bullshite because they are white and affluent. That sums up the problem with America right now...people are trying to frick over others and claiming that it's completely okay to do because of made up bullshite. In no world is what she did okay, and she should actually face heavy charges for being ultimately the mastermind behind a plot to steal over $150,000 worth of stuff from a family/hotel. Then she should have to deal with the results from the assault (attempted murder even?) that happened solely due to her masterminding all of it.

frick Paula. Her sitting in the airport back in her "we're better than you and pretending to read this book" routine is my least favorite part of the show.

That's what made me laugh so much...every time he was pissed about something and wanted to straighten it out, in my mind I was like "Yeah, go fix that shite because that's fricked up."

But he's just such an a-hole that I still couldn't pull for him. He definitely got fricked over a ton, and the hotel was in the wrong so much though. Wrong suite, covering over and over and then giving him the fake card for Armond's boss, the boat thing, etc. All of those are very legitimate things to be mad about (especially the room). I would've tried to straighten that out, and not wanted to quit until it was taken care of too.

As for how he treats his wife though, that's on him.

I do agree with that though, pretty much 100%. Paula was in no way supposed to be some relatable character with had empathy for IMO.

Glad the death wasn't the one coughing all the time
that would have been a bad ending
he shows up at end and coughs but then is swimming olympic style laps in the pool?

I kinda like that they gave him a little happy ending. Was it largely implausible? Yeah, but whatever.

Yeah, that part was stupid. There is zero chance that his parents wouldn't have immediately noticed him not on the plane and done something about it. In fact, they would've likely noticed it on the jetway well before they boarded. That just felt like some "feel good" thing thrown in for the audience that just didn't make sense and was super forced. They could've at least made him 18 if they wanted the character to stay there.

I think she decides to try actually enjoying her "new life." But obviously she won't and that marriage is doomed a week or two after they get back home.

I did love when she told Plop that he was a baby and was constantly coddled by his mom.....who showed up on his honeymoon. And he still didn't see the problem.

By the way, to those saying you didn't like the show, I get it. FWIW, I enjoyed the show a lot, but I don't think it's some magic that I just watched on television. It's just a solid, good little six-episode show that was a fun watch. It's not incredible TV. So I get the complaints and won't hate on people when it didn't vibe with them. I just personally loved it despite its faults.

This show makes me think about how awesome it would be to be some single dude in his 20s working there. I can only imagine the shite you'd see and the rich chicks (daughters, friends, moms, etc.) you'd get to bang on the reg. There are definitely way worse places you could work.

There was a scene early on when she told Shane to get over himself. I think she finally did that after Belinda blew her off. Her own pride was clouding her judgment.

Great ending. Paula dropping that necklace in the ocean was a good scene. She feels terrible because she inadvertently brought the family closer together, and got her boyfriend arrested. She fricked that whole situation up so badly. She thought she was being some woke warrior but ruined Kai’s life and actually ended up helping the family she was trying to burn

Which honestly shocks me that a show in 2021 would show when going woke goes wrong

Great show. Great ending. Enjoyed the ride all the way.
