I was saying the exact same thing to my wife. And when Rick dropped the hammer I got up and danced like I was watching a football game and a big play occured.

I thought the Mexican stood pretty still what with Rick swinging a machete at him and all.

I think he was too stunned to move. He couldn't conceive that someone like Rick could possibly best him, nor could he think that Rick would possibly attack him. He figured they would all be too scared of his prison tough guy act.

I think it was Darrell or TDawg that said it towards the end: "You think it's bad in here, just wait til you see what's out there." Tomas couldn't grasp that Rick had been through more shite than him and was prepared to do what needed to be done.

I thought Rick was just gonna make a Michael Corleone-type look at Darryl, and POOF, arrow through the head!

I think he needed to show Darrell that he could do it and wouldn't rely on him any time someone needed to be put down.

I have to admit though, that was a pretty nice Matrix dodge that Rick did when Tomas swung that crow bar at his head.

That actually was the only thing that really bothered me. It seemed a little too produced. The same effect could have been had if it was just a near-miss without Rick having to move. It didn't even seem like it was in his peripheral, he just had those action movie instincts.

ETA: to clarify, I don't mean it REALLY bothered me, I meant it was really the only thing that bothered me. I worded that poorly.

Good point. Remember last season's finale when Carol told Darryl that he was just Rick's henchman. At least Darryl knows Rick will do what it takes. This type of respect could matter when Merle shows up.

I think he felt he had to watch him even while in combat. And of course that also happened because that is when tomas said sorry bro, shite happens.

I get that, heightened awareness sort of thing. Makes sense.

Merle will show up. It's already been shown on tv he is back this season. As for Morgan, I doubt we see him yet. I read an article last year where the actor was asked if he would be back but he said he was busy with other projects so they may revisit that later. I guess you could get another actor that looks like him (tough I know) but I doubt it. I do wanna know what happened to them. Also to the Mexican family who decided not to travel to the CDC with them.

I'd love to see Merle's path since we saw him last but that would take away from this season. Maybe a webcast could do that.

No as in with the other groups or losing their prison. Not a random walker who bites a character

They left him handcuffed to a pipe on the roof in Atlanta, but he cut his hand off to get out.

they tried to prison shank the zombies

That was funny shite, right after they were told to go for the head. It just goes to show how institutionalized they are, and how out of sorts they are from what's going on in the outside world.

That may have been my favorite quote from the episode...when Rick's like "the head, not that 'prison riot' shite that just happened.."

Man I was just thinking about something. Think about how far Rick has come/developed as a character. I remember in the first episode when he came across that zombie woman crawling in the park(the one that was cut in half). I remember him going to her at the end of the episode and saying something to the fact, "I'm sorry, or I'm sorry for whatever happened to you",before he kills her. Now he's putting machete's into normal people's heads to protect his people. BRAVO!
