So, I assume it's not really "spoilers" to talk in here about things that have already been shown, right?
I would say anything that's been in an episode, or even on the previews for the next week (or after last week, season previews) are open to discuss.

Agreed.
Just saying that they showed Merle in the season preview on AMC, so I think it's a lock that he's back this season at some point.

He was in the next week preview after last night's ep as well.
I am anxious to see next week since it seems like the focus will be shifted away from the main group.

I think it may have been the dad and son from the 1st episode Spying on Carol. I keep waiting for them to pop back up. I feel the way about them like yall feel about Merle. I hope we see all 3 of them at some point

So if a person is aggressively treated with antibiotics immediately after being bitten, he/she will be OK?
Of course, antibiotics generally treat bacterial infection, and isn't this a virus?
Of course, it IS just fiction...I guess worrying about real world reality applying here is like a Trekkie worrying about Klingon grammar...

The antibiotics treat the serious infection that would result from a rotting corpse biting you. The virus only takes over when you die.

Not to mention that you're assuming you need power to operate water pumps...there could've been old school pumps around the prison, especially considering it was built at a water source (the river/creek outside).
Also, in the cell where they had Herschel, they had a sink full of water that Lori was rinsing her hands off in I'm pretty sure. So there seems to be running water (of some variety) there.

Just thinking, what if someone or a group (which they have hinted at) did try to take over the prison? Their cell block is locked off from everything else and only they have the keys right? So the only way a group could harm them is if they come out at some point while they are there, right?

or b) that Hershel posseses some kind of immunity (that one would be interesting for long term implications of how things work out)
interesting theory. if they went this route, they could play off something to do with him collecting and keeping all those walkers in the barn. something he did/came in contact with to give him increased immunity.
again..i have not read the comic so this is pure speculation just from watching the tv show.

We aren't talking about antibiotics to treat the virus that reanimates the corpse. We're talking about anti-biotics to fight the infection from the bacteria and germs from the bite. The infection is what kills you, not the virus.Posted on 10/22/12 at 1:22 pm to tylercsbn9

It was increasingly obvious when they tried to prison shank the zombies
That was funny shite, right after they were told to go for the head. It just goes to show how institutionalized they are, and how out of sorts they are from what's going on in the outside world.

he still hasn't crossed the line to cold blooded murder. Which killing the remaining two prisoners would have been.
The Latino guy tried to kill him by throwing the walker on him, the guy that ran was also a threat. I like the direction Rick has taken but i still consider him the "hero", hero's don't generally kill in cold blood.
I totally agree, and that is what I meant where he hasn't totally crossed the line. He's just realized he's got to do whatever it takes to PROTECT himself and the others.
I am really curious now how Merl showing up is going to effect Darryl and him being part of Ricks group.

I see a lot of people are pleased with the way Rick handled the mexican but i argue that it took him too long. One he jumped on tiny and bashed his face in he should have stuck a bullet in his head immediately and never gave him the chance to come at him. Then he should have quickly assessed the others reactions and decided their fate if they didnt immediately submit.

I kept saying kill him, that guy has to go, hurry up and kill him. I looked over at my wife and she was like except not black.

Like I said, just like Trekkies arguing Klingon Grammar...
(that's what I get for not reading whole thread...)

In Ricks defense, and what appeared to go down. It appears as though Rick was extra guarded with them, and he pretty much figured that Tomas was going to be a problem since he was an alpha type. But maybe he was trying to give them all the benefit of the doubt even though he probably figured they'd be a problem. Why he killed Tomas was obvious, and the little black guy was going to attack him with the bat before Rick kicked him, that's why he had to die. The other two did nothing.

Im still waiting for Carls dumb arse self to get the whole group in some serious shite.
Posted on 10/22/12 at 1:45 pm to Kracka
I thought the Mexican stood pretty still what with Rick swinging a machete at him and all.
I thought Rick was just gonna make a Michael Corleone-type look at Darryl, and POOF, arrow through the head!
