Confused as well. I feel this is one of the best half seasons of the show.

I'm not sure he even wants revenge right now or has been. He seemed totally broken down and basically done. The only thing that inspired him was this girl who I'm sure reminded him of his daughter.
He burned that town and then later he burned the picture of his former life. He may want to come in peace to protect those people as the new man he's trying to be. Anyways, I still wouldn't trust him too much haha

Yeah and I dont read the comics, but Im still not fully convinced that is what happens later either. They showed him outside the prison without any reason why. He could be there for a number of different reasons and him burning the photo and changing his name shows he wants to get rid of his past. That may even include his war with rick.

quote:honestly, I felt that it was extremely rushed. They could have spread this out over the next episode and it would've developed his character better. But, then people like you would've complained that the episode was dull and boring, even though this type of character development really helps this show in the long run.
humanization of the Governor could/should have been covered in a 10-15 segment, instead of an entire episode.

I thought they said "brownie sticks" but it looked kind of like Jerky so maybe it was "brown sticks", and Jerky should still be edible.

At the moment, I'd say revenge is the last thing on his mind.

The opening montage with him and the music playing was really heart wrenching. Very nice job by the show. You almost feel sorry for him and forget all the horrible things he's done.

No, I think they are setting it up to where something tragic will happen to the girl and he will go full-blown psycho and feel he must get revenge on Rick.
Now my big question will be: will Carol help him?

Yeah...I think the Governor meets Carol on the road.

Now that's a plot that makes sense. The goal wouldn't be revenge, but to extract the girls Carol promised a dying man she would protect.

Does Carol know what the governor looks like? I don't recall any direct meeting or whether Carol was outside during the attack on the prison.

I dont think she does. Which makes her joining him seem like an extremely likely senario. New group for her to join and she doesnt know who he is or what he did to her friends

So we just figured out what happens?

I'd say it's a very educated guess.

Wonder how Ricks friend from the pilot could possibly fit into any of this.

It would be really awesome if we catch up with the Governor looking at the prison...and then he just turns and leaves, a changed man. Would crack me up because people would be complaining for a really, really long time.

The Governor just doesn't do it for me as a lead character, last night really put the exclamation point on that. He's a great anatagonist, but giving him his own "recovery" episodes makes me feel like the show is back on the farm again.

I'd say since Carol's character wasn't killed off - just kicked out of the prison group by Rick, the chances are very high that we'll see her again. Whether it's with the Governor is another question. But for now it seems like it's just the prison group, and the group the Governor just landed with. So I think odds are that yes, there may be some interaction there. Other than Morgan I don't know who else is out there that she could interact with. And I just kind of doubt they would introduce yet a third group right now. Never know though I guess.

Morgan can't be that far away, Ricks town seems to be a manageable drive from the prison.
Maybe after everything is clear, for a while, Morgan takes him up on his offer. Etc. Those three characters have never seen each other before but all have Rick in common. I like Morgan and believe if he got his head on strait he could be a great asset.

quote:yeah, but if they included his character during the first 4 episodes of this season, all 4 episodes would've been terrible. At least they gave us 4 great episodes. And, while I hate the governor's character, I actually like what they've done. I would 100% love for them to let him ride in the sunset with a "redemption story" of having a new family and his arch just ending like that.

Hmm..well this season so far seems to have a theme of, "do you, or do you not get to come back.."

quote:true. and, I think they could really draw a big distinction between Rick trying to go back to normal and failing, and the Governor actually being able to accomplish it. Would be an interesting twist considering that the audience is supposed to believe Rick is the good guy and the Governor is the bad guy. Give the bad guy a happy ending and then let us continue on with Rick and see if he can find his.
