Goddammit every fricking week.

I keep forgetting characters...I know the guy used to be with the governor but was he one of the few he didn't kill at the end of last season?

I liked the episode. The governor, in my opinion, is far more complex than simply being a bad guy. If you have ever read Heart of Darkness, he strikes me as a Kurtz type figure. Without society to restrain him, his inner destruction consumes him. He might break out of it.

I really really wish the show followed the comic a little more. Especially on when certain characters get killed off. I'm still kind of mad that they killed off Andrea. Way to go sticking with her original storyline.

Trom that was shot out of the way when Darabont casted friends in the Dale and Andrea roles and they were both really old.

I thought this episode was great. Humanizing the Gov'na is much better than trying to make him into a supreme boss like S3 did.

But he is a villian. Just read the comics.

It is very interesting especially since it is probably wildly different than what Mazzara intended.

Rings pretty hollow when you try to humanize a guy who engaged in sadistic torture and murdered a few dozen people (if not more) in cold blood.

True but had Mazzara had his way it would have been guy who engaged in sadistic torture vs group holed up in prison who murdered a few dozen people trying to surrender. His original ending for last season had Team Prison murder the Woodbury army in what is supposed to be "questionable" circumstances but when they filmed it, it came across as Glenn, Maggie, Rick, Carol, Mich, Daryl, and Carl (those are the confirmed ones that were at the shoot) meeting up with the army after they retreated and "finishing it" before going to Woodbury.

Also it seems to be a constant criticism about the flow of episodes when in reality it mostly because we watch it one week at a time. A good chunk of Breaking Bad's audience didn't start watching live until between 4 and 5A. People are so conditioned to set up of sitcoms, CSI and the like that they expect self contained story every week. Any serial drama like Breaking Bad and the Walking Dead has set up episodes, bottle episodes, pay off episodes, and breather episodes its just the way it works. A lot of the criticism levied at the Walking Dead was done to Breaking Bad and other serial dramas as well. In reality the best way to watch a serial drama is binge watching on Netflix. I got into Breaking Bad fairly late but I can image being pissed off having to wait a week for the next episode if I had watched Fly when it first came out.

The Walking Dead will never be episodic except when an ending to a story/plotline/comic issue matches the ending of an episode or a season. That was one of Mazzara's problems was he tried to implement too much of the Shield's police procedural episode by episode stories that did little to advance the overall plot.

I noticed that. There were some promos of the new season that had this mistake as well. Pretty sloppy.

I think both cases are like the shots of the Daryl back tattoo being on the wrong side a few frames last year, ie the image is flipped.

All in all, a great episode, in my opinion,

Aside from the Governors transformation and good music, what was great about it? The acting was horrible. A lot of terrible scenes: the girl addressing the Gov's "head wound" for 2-3 minutes. Food sitting in a truck for 3 years (or however long the ZA has been going on) and still being edible. The girl twisting her ankle for no reason. The van breaking down. Again the roads and fields are clean. The Gov walking aimlessly and not getting bitten. How come no one else has the flu? I thought this episode sucked.

Really curious about this? Have they addressed how much time has passed?

PS - this show would be so much better on HBO with a titty shot here or there like last night in the truck.

Based on a rough timeline it seems

Rick woke up about 8 weeks after it started

Season 1 took place over a period of about a week(So ZA plus 9 weeks) Summer

Season 2 took place immediately after over the span of a fall until early winter.

They spent all winter into early spring (hence grass not growing yet) at the start of season 3. This means likely Season 3 started about 10 months into the ZA. Season 3 was over by early fall so it ended about 12/13 months into the ZA.

That was when Phillip/Brian was on the road a few months so I would say Live Bait happened about 15 months into the ZA. Not really that long for Can goods.

Can you not keep this to the comic thread? Seriously its not hard. If this was GoT people would find your IP and hunt you down.
