I liked that we got to see the new part of the universe that I'm really interested in and I thought it was interesting to see Khary Payton play the character differently even if it was a hallucination. I think the setting helped me like it more than anything.

i'm interested in seeing how/why/to what extent the commonwealth has knowledge of our heroes' trials and tribulations over the past however many years. they (or some of they) clearly already know about them, via the helicopters and the trash lady.

and obviously rick is there and michonne is heading that way. so how they weave all the threads together should be worth watching.

hopefully

Agreed. Then on top of that, how much do they know about the characters in the other two shows? I guess we'll start to find out how close Fear gets to TWD in the next couple of months.

Is it confirmed that Rick is returning? I also read the post show interview with Michonne it seemed pretty clear she would no longer be a part of the show. Maybe something new has come out besides her own spinoff series being reported.

I feel better about these episodes having read that they were filmed during Covid (obviously) and have a parred down cast to reflect that.

Splinter wasn't that great, and the Princess character is just as awful in the show as she was in the comics. A true mail-in moment by Kirkman at that point.

But when it was revealed she was having a mental episode, it picked up some.

She does a good job of being crazy but making you feel empathy for her that she's crazy.

It's just weird how different perspectives are. I was very frustrated watching her and didn't feel any empathy. Any existing society would be heavily guarded and have a rigorous vetting process. They would be under heavy guard and escape near impossible. If the interrogation happened(?), I would have killed her. She is obviously mentally ill. Why take the risk?

Her overpowering and besting a guard was beyond a leap. I doubt he would be alone. He wouldn't be carrying a long gun (if a gun at all). She couldn't straight up overpower and beat down a trained soldier. She front cuffed him giving him almost full mobility and access to everything on his belt. She would be dead..

But also it's a show about zombies, so you have to suspend a little disbelief, no?

I’ll be that guy who hasn’t read the graphic novels. I thought this episode sucked. It’s drawing my interest elsewhere from TWD.

I am in the same boat and this seems to be happening to me every season where I start to go elsewhere as the episodes, even prior to the pandemic, become lost with very little moving it forward. Again maybe in the comics this is better understood but for a casual viewer who knows the TWD universe via TV I find myself losing interest once again.

Yeah non comic reader here too. That was not a good episode. We learned that Princess who we have dozens of minutes invested in was abused as a kid and is crazy. Would have liked to learn at least a little more about who has them right now

In the last episode we may learn who they are and be left once again with a huge cliffhanger of what is to come.

Fans?

...I wanted to see it through too, just cause I'd been watching since day 1, but after rick left. That last episode with him was my series finale.

But I do wonder how they will attempt to dig themselves out

What was the "jump the shark" moment for you?

I agree, the series isn't shaping up how I would like, but I would say they've jumped no sharks. They could actually use a shark jumping moment - something bombastic to kick some excitement off.

Just watched it. Holy shite, that was worthless. An entire episode dedicated to Princess in a box car. Absolutely nothing happened. They're stringing us along as if they are trying to make the show last forever, but we already know when it will end.

The endgame scenario they have planned must not take a lot of episodes to pull off, so they keep giving us filler.

It was funny how she kept describing a box car as a confined space. The smallest cars are 40x10 with 10 foot ceilings. It would be huge, especially totally empty (people build tiny homes with way less square footage). That's how I knew Ezekiel's jump down are sketchy. There would be no way to get back up..

meh. I would be less disappointed by these season extension episodes is if they just didn't do them and saved up budget for next season. I dont even remember the first ep, Daryl's lost love ep was lame.
aaron/gabriel was ok at best but still nonsense that they didn't defend themselves while having a loaded gun vs the very distractible captor.

I didn't need or want a princess bottle neck episode that does nothing for the story other than demonstrating that princess is mentally unstable, which was already obvious when she thought walking through a minefield was normal.

Cant wait for another carol/daryl snoozer ep. lmao they gave the deaf chick a Heath sendoff, then tried a daryl lost love episode with a hearing chick. wonder if well see either again.
