Final 1/2 season of Walking Dead started this week. I am trying to find the strength to finish this show. I just want it to end. I want them all to die so there is not chance at a 10th spinoff.

It’s funny to look back a few years and recall just how beloved Norman Reedus was for his portrayal of the popular Daryl Dixon. The actor and that character were on fire for a hot minute.

Might Reedus have made a mistake by sticking around until the show’s demise? He was once a hot property but now feels all but forgotten.

Legions of fans once proclaimed, “If Daryl dies, we riot!”. That feels like a lifetime ago…

what was the point of the whole reapers/meridien storyline? It was literally a dead end, a nothing. And it was so fricking stupid...”protect our family” LOL

really?
You come upon a village growing food and surviving and you kill everyone in the town and move in? And then what? Grow more food? They were already growing food for fricks sake. Offer to protect them, don’t be assholes, everyone gets to live and to eat.

And then Maggie and her bullshite. Let’s travel across the country and sacrifice a dozen people for a wagonload of apples? With no plan? And then what? Do it again after the apples run out?

this show is beyond stupid and beyond redemption. I am hate watching it at this point

Funny thing is, about a month ago, I told an old co-worker about the show who was looking for a binge. He had never seen an episode before.

I told him as good/great as it started off, it jumped the shark after Season 7 (averaging about 14M viewers) and I started skipping in-between episodes and just watching the mid & end season finales of Season 8. When they killed off multiple main characters from Season 1, I was officially done.

The dude watched all 10 seasons on Netflix and was tying to get me to watch Seasons 9 & 10. I adamantly refused. I then went to wiki just to see if there were more seasons, and sure enough, there's a Season 11 (avg 1.7M viewers) not yet on Netflix that just restarted after the mid-seaon break. Unbelievable this show is still going.

24 episodes? Geezus.

Part of the draw for cable shows (circa 2008 to present) vs Network shows, was that there were limited episodes per season that could focus on quality writing & production. Network shows' quality suffers greatly from the time deadlines and limited budgets trying to produce 30+ episodes each year.

Ive never watched the show but I really don't see how they could carry that many interesting storylines about zombies chasing you.

it doesn't help that there are multiple spinoff shows, and the show runners intend to combine them all in some kind of franchise finale. there will be at least one film. originally, they planned for three, but i don't see it happening.

When the show was at its best, the most compelling storylines weren’t necessarily people running from zombies, but the interactions between the varying groups of humans trying to survive the zombie apocalypse.

Crazy that the show was beating football games at one point.

The “who did negan kill?” Cliffhanger absolutely ruined the show for a lot people

I think it’s reasonable to assume that Maggie would have killed them anyway if they had tried to come in nicely.

I figure they’re going to have Maggie come close to becoming Prime Negan; probably with a bat in her hand and everything, and then she’ll decide not to.

I forget what season I tapped out but in my opinion they killed off most of the interesting characters and chose to focus on the most boring ones.

Also, this part of the show has always bugged me: why haven't all the zombies decayed away into dust by now? Obviously they do decay - I mean, look at them. And it has been years since the initial events of the show that made the vast majority of the zombies in the first place. So where are they all coming from?

I stopped when they were spending episodes walking on a train track. I've never looked back, and I am happier for it.

Humanity is doomed in that show because every other character is gay. It took them till the last fricking season to give Darryl someone to have sex with.

Exact same for me. Like so many others, I was hooked on the early seasons. But after the town with the eye-patch guy I just couldn't any more.

Even at that point it had become repetitive. Find location to be secure in for a season, everything goes to hell at the end, find new place, repeat.

And honest to God I couldn't stand to hear one more version of "I don't want to just be alive, I want to live!"
