The various Alaska survival/off the grid shows. How real are they?

I have really gotten in the various off the grid type shows which seem to be solely based in Alaksa. The last frontier, the last Alaskans, the Alaskan bush people, life below zero, etc.
But because it's a show, and there are TV crews, I always wonder how real they actually are to the lives they live.
Some seem more authentic than others. The last frontier people have every available toy and tool they could ever need to do anything they would want.
Some of them do look like they live in cabins without electricity.
But I also see some of the draw back/drone shots, and you can see other homes and roads and traffic not far away, so I really wonder how true and authentic they actually are.
Anybody think about this?

Those shows are the only shows me and Mrs HK watch - love em. My understanding is that there are "scripted" parts and some scenarios are made up for dramatic effect. Don't care. I always learn something and best part is there's no political slant to any of the narratives.

Last Frontier is dumber than all hell...those folks live real close to a population center on the Kenai
I remember watching an episode where one chick was having a baby and they were able to drive to the hospital. If they really lived in the bush, they would have to take a plane

I've been out to the kilchers. I live further from a city than they do.

Yeah, there was an episode where they rode snowmobiles something like 20 miles to catch a couple of fish. Just go to the fricking store and buy them and save all the gas they burned. I do like Otto in that one, but it could be pretty dumb.
Alaskan Bush People is one of the phoniest and worst shows I've ever seen.
Life Below Zero is actually a pretty good show.

They have to film this nonsense so people actually can't be Bush but to the Lower 48 viewers it looks Bush unless you live in Montana or Wyoming.
There are some good docs out there on real remote people in the interior.
There was one with a girl who grew up by herself with just her parents and the only contact from the outside was supplies flown in.
And the film directors asked as she was becoming an adult, "don't you want to move to someplace like Nome or Kotzebue to find a guy and she said, "no, I couldn't live in the big city."
Now those are real Alaskan bush people.

Well, I guess I sort of assume if they have electricity in their homes, they can't be too far out.
Of course, that lady on life below zero appears to live miles and miles from any other people and has electricity, and when they show her inside the house, you see lots of current food packages and such. I just don't know what to think about these shows.

Joe Rogan has done a couple of podcasts with off-grid survivalists.
One of them won the show ‘Alone’ and is always in Siberia. Other guy I think was on life below zero.
Can’t remember names, not much help I know lol, but they were both super interesting.

Love this show.

I think they're really just showing how their ancestors lived when they were homesteading in the 1970's or longer ago.

Jewel on last frontier with dem tittays
I stopped watching those idiot Alaska bush people a few years ago. Can’t stand those phonies. But yeah Life below zero is decent. Sue can get a bit annoying but she is way the frick up there.

I have been to Alaska and just inside the Arctic Circle - to the sign that says Arctic Circle. I didn't plan to go to the Arctic Circle on that trip but had done everything I wanted and ended up renting a U-Haul pickup truck in Fairbanks for the day to make the trip. U-Haul was the only company (at that moment) that had a truck they would allow me to drive on the Dalton Highway.
Last year I had plans to return in the summer and drive the entirety of the Dalton Highway. Had the flight booked and had reserved a vehicle through a company called Arctic Outfitters. Well, COVID struck and at that particular time getting a reliable test turned out to be real pain in the arse, so I went with my backup plan and just didn't a road trip in the Pacific Northwest.
I have some uncertainty in my life right now and not sure what I will be doing in the coming months, but if things stabilize and COVID doesn't get any worse I will give it another try.
I would also enjoy camping in Gates of the Arctic at some point.

The surest sign that none of it is real is them calling it a reality show.
