The "web sleuths" are making me want to turn this off

Every documentary department meeting at Netflix:
-Hey boss I read this cool Internet story, I think we should make a documentary about it
How much story is there?
-hmm if we really stretch it I’d say we can make an hour to hour and a half long documentary out of it. The entire story takes place over the course of like 20 minutes
Okay so let’s do a 4-8 part documentary with hour long of each part, throw in 4 hours of overhead Drone shots, spend the rest of the budget on creating the trailer. We need the trailer to make it sound like the most important thing that has ever happened on earth. Interview as many random people as you can. Make sure they pause in the middle of their sentences a lot so we can add fake tension and hold the weak payoff until they are already pot committed. Make sure they also ask pondering rhetorical questions that we can splice into the marketing to make it sound like the documentary will cover that question in any meaningful way, but ultimately we’ll just brush past it

the doc should have been about the Hotel itself
Elisa Lam could have been one strong episode

haven't watched it but heard a podcast about the story of the girl who went "missing" supposedly people were drinking that water, so gross. If this is the same story I am thinking of.

this is my next Netflix watch. I'm finishing up The Sinner Season 3 right now.

South Park was right once again

With each Netflix “documentary” I watch, I feel like it’s more embellishments and fiction than not

Documentary drug out way too much.
Personally, I think the girl was a mental case, prob took something, tripped way too hard, and killed herself in the tank like the movie.
I really doubt anyone else was involved.

Yeah they beat that horse for a long while after it died, could have easily been an hour long.
Aside from the grieving family, I feel the worst for the black metal musician; bunch of virtue signaling “I’m so smart” Reddit types with a hero-complex ruined the guy’s life.

Idk if there is a worse representation of the internet then reddit. A bunch of losers who cry about everything. Nothing will ever be good enough for them. Get a fricking job and do something pussies.

The elevator video is still battling.
There's another doc on just the elevator girl which explains why she was acting like she was...and its not ghosts. Some medical reason but I forget.

Can we talk about Dr Ho?

Did they ever have a theory on how the hatch was put back on? About to start episode 4.
It seems obvious foul play wasn’t involved. Maybe some nut job at the hotel helped her?

Just watched the first ep. When I saw the elevator video I felt like I had seen that before on YouTube. I remember that going viral a few years ago for how strange it was.

It wasn’t. Miscommunication. Mexican dude who worked for the hotel reveals at the end that it was open when he found her.
And the doc makes it very clear(eventually) what happened. She was was batshit crazy bipolar and had gone off her meds. Seemed to obviously be manic rather than depressed, so probably went for a swim and the water level went down and she had no way to get up to get out. Treaded water as long as she could before calling it. Sad. She had no business being by herself anywhere, much less on Skid Row in Los Angeles.

Ty for saving me the time. The "web sleuths" finally got to me. That one guy that had a facebook page seemed like a sociopath

And besides that reveal coming in like the last minutes, it’s also revealed late that she had being staying at the hotel with a couple of roommates (I’m pretty sure they were strangers just saving money like at a hostel) and she had been leaving them weird post-it notes for days telling them to get out and other crazy shite. Hotel finally moved her to her own room maybe the night before the elevator video.
There’s no way this should have turned into an international internet mystery. Once all the pieces were finally presented, the puzzle wasn’t all that hard to put together.

Decent show, but yes was about 2 episodes to long.
How did the GM keep her job for 10 years? Hah
And the one "web sleuth" that had someone go to her grave and put his hand on it for closure is a fricking psychopath. He has killed someone before for sure hah.
