Finished last night. Was hooked from the first episode straight through the end.
Going to buy the books now.
I enjoyed the book much more than the show. As to the rest of the books, Carr's writing gets better with each one.

this was a chore to get through.
I enjoyed the series, but they definitely toned down the ‘government bad’ angle in the show’s plot.

I’m just wondering why people in here are so defensive over this show.

He was just shown forgiveness by the FBI agent then goes on the finish Ben
He wasn't really shown forgiveness. The FBI agent was paying him back because he knew Reece could have killed him and didn't.

So I watched the series. Pretty good. Not as good in my opinion as the board consensus, but worth watching.
Can I just say that from the very first scene that included Ben, I knew he was in on it. He was just obviously one of those good-guy characters that they made way too good, and I had absolutely no doubt he was going to be involved in it.
So, maybe they should have done a better job of not telegraphing that.

I missed having Hartley be basically a 1:1 clone of Hillary Clinton. I also missed the storyline with the Imam.
I felt like she was Pelosi. Grew up privileged. Has that look and tone.

I enjoyed this show a lot more than I thought I would. Its like a better version of Law Abiding Citizen.

This is too negative. Please revise your opinion.

SPOILER QUESTION
so are all the books focused on J Reece? Is the whole terminal brain tumor resolved or is this gonna be an ongoing issue? Just got a little tired of the constant flash mixing of memories thing throughout the series….

Pretty good to me as well. Few scenes were just awful
The entire mountain tracking episode was bad, and climaxed with a man made avalanche to bail him out
Didnt like ending at all. Seemed too easy to add that twist.

I liked this show. This will be unpopular but
Ben’s “Die with their boots on” excuse made some sense to me.

James Reece is the central character the entire series.
His tumor is resolved in book 2. The flashbacks play much better in the books, on screen they were a bit of a bore and excessive. I suppose they used them as a way to get more screen time for his wife and daughter and add backstory/depth to Reece and his motivation. Now that his list is complete they do not contribute to the plot so hopefully they tone it down.

I agree with you. I didn’t mind his “boots on ground” death. Kind of like how Vikings get to Valhalla. Just someone did get out and caused all sorts of shite.

Much appreciated. I hope they make a second season.

book 2.
Loved the series and want to read the books. Do I need to re-read book 1 or can I just straight into book 2?
