I'm on my 7th watch through and im still picking up on things I missed before. The show, the script, the actors, all brilliant.

Tony is one of the most complicated characters of any modern genre. You think it's as simple as "the guy is an animal with no empathy for anyone", but then one scene can change your whole perspective.

I'm looking forward to the movie coming out next year, but I have a hard time believing it can live up to the dynamic that 6(or 7) seasons of the Sopranos created.

IMO The Wire is better and holds up better as time goes on.

Agreed, Watched it live as a kid. Did a rewatch in college. Just did a 2nd rewatch showing it to my fiance who'd never seen it.

Just an incredible series in all ways.

Nope. Used to agree with you, but Wire is better. Better execution, far more extensive scale and scope

It won’t because Gandolfini isn’t alive to play a role in it

It can be good, but it won’t be the same without him

The Wire really doesn’t hold up. Just watch the first episode where Rawls is reprimanding McNulty by holding up both middle fingers the entire scene and saying dumb shite like “these are for you McNulty!!!”...like did a 7 year old write that. Or what about that scene where Bunk and McNulty are investigating the crime scene and only communicate by saying ‘frick’. For years I had to hear how it is such a brilliant scene. Watch it again...it isn’t. It’s cringey as frick. Most of the fricks are sooo forced.

Also the last season of The Wire is a complete piece of shite. Logic goes out of the window and the show becomes a complete parody of itself. The only storyline that seems like it is set in reality is Bubble’s finishing story arc.

ETA: don’t get me wrong I still love the show but upon rewatching both shows recently I realized that The Wire has shown its age quite a bit, and The Sopranos hasn’t.

The over the top profanity on the wire is annoying!

I love how every Sopranos mention is met with The Wire comments. Can’t they exist and both be appreciated separately?

I know I know, they can’t.

Maybe if you spent a little more time watching something else your opinion might change.

It isn’t the best HBO series

GoT
Deadwood
Sopranos
Boardwalk empire

Succession has a chance to be the GOAT

We are still neglecting other great non-HBO series

Breaking Bad
MASH
ER
Law and Order

Justified isn't even the best FX show starring Walton Goggins.

Deadwood
The Wire
Breaking Bad
Sopranos
Justified

ETA- The order isn't static depending on how long/recent I have watched, but the list is.

I'm going to pretend you're not suggesting Sons of Anarchy is better than Justified.

And hoping you're talking about The Shield.

Silvio Dante:
When I came to open up one morning, there you were with your head half in the toilet, your hair was in the toilet water... disgusting.

Christopher Moltisanti:
I told you, I had the flu.

I had no idea that Goggins starred in Sons of Anarchy.

But yes, I am very clearly referring to The Shield.

Justified has two amazing lead characters but is pretty flat outside of Goggins and Olyphant. The Shield is a contender for one of the best shows ever. Light years better than Justified.
