The Exorcist

I just assume whenever someone picks The Exorcist as their scariest movie that they are old. No offense, just after watching it somewhat recently it's not nearly as scary as more recent horror movies.

Agreed. I was 7 when I first saw it. Those goddam (real!?) corpses.. the maggots in that guy’s face.. that fricking clown! To this day it still scares the shite out of me... and it’s rated PG!!!

The Exorcist is one of them, but as a kid, the movie trilogy of terror was scary as frick.

I was so scared, that i was afraid of looking under the bed, table, etc.

The original Omen is creepy as shite. The score alone is scary.

The kid who played Damien was so good, he fit the part, played and looked the part of a creepy, scary, demonic kid.

Dont really get scared with movies, but the ones that had my heart pumping because of anticipation etc were first Insidious and Signs strangely

At first I was terrified of that fkr, but as I got older it became more of a comedy.

I can add a couple more to the list. "The Omen" and "The Other" were pretty creepy in their own way.

Jaws is a given

The Excorcist and The Shining both deserve consideration.

I'll throw in a couple for discussion sake...

The original "The Hitcher" with Rutger Hauer was some pretty scary chit .

Something a bit more recent I would have to go with "Jeepers Creepers". Not too many movies these days cause the hair on the back of my neck to stand up but that one sure did.

Maybe not the scariest I have ever seen, but in the top 5 would be VHS 1

Downvote away.....but Blair witch project was terrifying (not necessarily horrifying) to me

Might take the cake

Not to mention the marketing of that film was incredible.

I think it played more on you because it left it to your imagination. Had we actually saw her, it wouldnt have worked imo

Because getting lost in the woods is actually terrifying.

And that was the only thing terrifying about the movie.

Getting lost in the Woods. People die getting lost in the Woods.

The exorcist hands down. I still can’t watch that movie and I’m 43 years old.
