I just saw one ultra, ultra cringe thing on Twitter, and holy shite that’s the best you can come up with? Outright plagiarism of probably the second most famous story in the Bible where it nearly made me spit out my drink.

But the whole elf batting a balrog at a tree that had a lost simiril under it and lightening strikes the tree and sends down power to the mithril that will stop tree rot and in turn keep the trees alive and the entire elven race and souls alive if they soak themselves in mithril thing was just too much. I finished the season but that did me in for the show. That to me is more than just changing lore, that's changing the story at it's core and tells me that as writers you don't really care about this property.
A lot of stuff was going to have to be added to this story to remotely make it work, and if the show runners showed me that they actually cared and were trying to stay true to source the best they could, then I would have actually been ok with that. They didn't so I don't care to watch.
Edit: If I had to give them credit for a few things, I'd say they actually killed it with Durin. That guy was perfectly cast and was the one truly good character on the show. He was legit better than any dwarf in The Hobbit movies. Durin and Elronds friendship was a good dynamic. That and they did a really good job with the orcs. Orcs looked great.

How are we expected to believe that these legacy characters are the same ones from the books and PJ movies? None of them bear even the slightest resemblance to the actual characters Tolkien wrote.

Yeah, they’ll allow a hot white guy to be evil, but they’re implying that any masculinity is actually evil and you are fetishizing it. Any good male must be feminized and subservient to women.

I don’t want to head down this road but I’ll say it to you once. Leftist women want cucks around them and to serve them but they lust after men they pretend to hate. This happened in Acolyte and now in ROP. This will continue to be a main theme in any show people like this are left in charge of because all they can write is self insert soap opera shite.
