I hate soccer. Congrats on acknowledging you're into shitty woke tv shows and movies.

deadpool and wolverine and its always sunny are the opposite of woke you dumbass. That's why they succeeded and this doesn't.
Once you people realize that simple observation things will change if not nothing will change.

I thought the finale was awesome.

‘The Rings of Power’ on Verge of Season 3 Renewal by Amazon
In the wake of its second season finale and strong ratings, the fantasy epic is very close to getting a pickup.

tv ratings are terrible and they are losing so many millions.
It wasn't renewed you bum. They had it in their contracts to make 5 seasons no matter what.
You got caught trying to make shite up

IMDB has every episode at 6 or 7 and Rotten tomatoes audience score is 48%. This is a dog shite show.

no you weren't. You knew the contract had it in for 5 seasons NO MATTER WHAT happened. Jeff Bezos made sure of it
strong ratings? false. 63% of its already low viewership didn't even finish the season
Why can't you people just admit you were wrong

I've only ever read the trilogy and The Hobbit and seen the two trilogies. Never read the Simarillaiamnillarraillian. I'll be disappointed if this show gets canceled before I get to see the ORTRTA get forged, Isilidur get his 10 foot long pointy sword, and Sauron get his finger cut off. I'm all in at this point.

I literally just said they have it in the contract to film all 5 seasons NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS.
It can't get canceled or it would break contract and they would lose even more money.

I don’t think Amazon is that concerned about losing money on the TV side. TV for Amazon and Apple are like side quests to those companies, and both print money. Even though Apple said they were going to scale back, especially with original movies, I think both Amazon and Apple know what they are doing.

This show was incredibly dumb. I’m glad many viewers have tuned out at least

They definitely aren't. That was probably part of the problem. The show runners knew that they had no one to please and could get away with stuff that would have gotten them fired on any other show or network. They also aren't concerned about making a great tv show either. You could only laugh when you see the harfoots and stoors and those retard star wars characters. It's bad when you start rooting for the bad guys.

I actually havent seen this anywhere. Do you have a link?
Edit: I found it. Looks like Tolkien’s estate asked for 5 full seasons before signing the rights away
It will be interesting to see what the budget is for Season 3. Season 1 was $465M and Season 2 was $700M

You have to be nearly brain dead to call this show "woke." That's just supremely stupid.
Most of the sorry lot attacking the show in this thread don't even hate the show -- they just hate life.
Season 2 was a definite improvement over Season 1. It's a very good show.

As of now, I wouldn't call the show woke, it's just shallow. It's increasingly clear that they're aiming for the casual movie fan (the ones that also liked The Hobbit), that never read any of the books. certainly not anything beyond LOTR and The Hobbit.
To that end, they haven't broken lore established ONLY by the movies. PJ didn't say a damn thing about Gandalf coming in the middle of the Third Age, or when the Balrog appeared in Khazad Dum. The only indication of a timeline in the movies was Elrond saying he was there when they fought Sauron before, when Isildur took the Ring. That, and Galadriel's voiceover of some halflings finding the Ring in the River, with one becoming Gollum.
Now, they ARE name-dropping a lot, mentioning Gondolin, Doriath, Manwe, Finrod and so forth. That's not for readers, it's to introduce viewers and draw them in, so they then go (on Amazon) and start buying books.
Going on this theory, I suspect things are going to be miserable for the Dwarves. We're probably going to see them driven out of Khazad Dum in a season or so, and come to the Lonely Mountain (which, of course, will soon be menaced by Smaug).
And we're going to see more halflings, some settling by the Anduin, some going further west to the Shire. Gandalf of course will be their tour guide, perhaps guided initially by Tom Bombadil to bring them towards the Shire.
It is what it is, a marketing ploy and not a serious attempt at presentation of the lore as it was written.
We may also see Elves split off and move to Greenwood and Lorien.

You’ve no idea what you’re talking about.
Multicultural elves, dwarves & hobbits is the essence of ‘woke’. They intentionally ignored the heart of what Tolkien created, and instead used his work to insert their current day views & identity politics.
Both of those are woke AF.
- Rings Of Power UK star: my character is the face of necessary redress of balance
British actress Sophia Nomvete says the series would help create ‘accessibility for generations to come’.
The books had already been translated to nearly 40 languages. There was no “accessibility“ necessary.
And idiotic articles like this…

Guyladriel, not-a-queen Muriel, girl Frodo & Sam, Boobwyn, etc… just from season 1!
