Honestly I could spend an hour each week just watching them make the rings.
I really enjoyed the Dwarf scenes in this week's episode too. From the king breaking the structural wall open himself to let in the light, ol' girl hearing the balrog in the depths, the king smaking the envoy's hand when he tried to take a ring, lol. I've wanted more of that since we saw the stone bridge getting broke. Earlier in the season. That moment gave me chills knowing what comes in LotR.
Could have used a little more Gandalf and Tom this episodes. I'm guessing we will spend most of next week there with him, maybe going to look for his harfoot buddies.

I really don’t think it’s Gandalf.
It seems much more likely it’s one of the blue wizards given they are in Rhún and he seems to be on a collision course with the dark wizard (the other blue wizard)

I enjoyed the episode. Still not loving the Numenor stuff. It needs to get going somewhere and soon.
I also don't like how Celebrimbor is deceived so easily. Makes him look really weak.
The dwarf stuff is fantastic and is easily the best part of the show right now.

I suspect that will be soon. This is the first time they really tried to establish any stakes over there.

Neither is one of the blue wizards being a dark wizard. But if that ends up being Gandalf's dad I will riot
But I agree with others that this was probably the best episode of the series. Ol boy makes a really really good Annatar. I disagree with the poster that said it makes Celebrimbor stupid. I mean that's just kind of how deceitful Annatar is. They are having Celebrimbor go back and forth and it's like he knows it's wrong but Annatar is so crafty he keeps pulling him back in.
Though I don't like how they have approached the rings in general and their powers and even the order the rings are being made in. It's like I give them credit for something but there is always something I'm frustrated about, even in the best episodes.
I wasn't necessarily a hater of Galadriel's story, but I think it's kind of easy to see why this was for sure the best episode of the series, because the Dwarves and Annatar are by far the two best story lines in the show and this episode was almost solely those two storylines.
Like I said before, I could watch a show based solely ont he dwarves. Durin is done as well as we've ever seen a dwarf done on screen. And I say that as a fan of Gimli.
But I'm back again to disliking something because I don't like the Balrog part. I get why they're doing it, so they can tie it to LOTR's "The dwarves delved to deep" and their eventual fate, but I don't think they would have kept digging so deep (even though the Balrog doesn't appear to even be that far down) if there were signs of it this early on.
Continues to be a like some/hate more relationship with this show for me. This is the first episode of the series though that I don't have much to complain about. I'll probably be back to complaining more next week if the Orcs are about to be in alliance with Galadriel in going against Sauron. It's not going to happen obviously, but it would be much better if they found a way to ditch the Harfoots as well.

Naw. He's working with Sauron the deveiver. Manipulation was his thing.

You sure? Almost nothing is said about them.
Tolkien's own words:
quote:
I really do not know anything clearly about the other two [wizards] – since they do not concern the history of the N[orth].W[est]. I think they went as emissaries to distant regions, East and South, far out of Númenórean range: missionaries to 'enemy-occupied' lands, as it were. What success they had I do not know; but I fear that they failed, as Saruman did, though doubtless in different ways; and I suspect they were founders or beginners of secret cults and 'magic' traditions that outlasted the fall of Sauron.

I did not like Tom Bombadil in the books, but I actually did like him in the show. I think he was done right.
I liked him in the books and was glad to see him in the show. I hope he has a bigger role moving forward.

I don’t care about Numenor. At all.
Same and as others have said just not an interesting story.

I like the dwarfs, but I would like to see more going on there. The characters and actors are good. I want more. If they just had a dwarf show I would watch it.
Their story holds the most interest.

I like the whole Sauron/Celebrimbor/Elrond thing. I like that Elrond has distrusted the rings from the start.
Lets remember Elrond possess one of the 3 in the LOTR. Its power he uses to preserve and protect Rivendell.

Galadriel is a big polarizer. I’m holding out hope that she will gain the wisdom and gravity she needs sooner rather than later.
I would rather see the female version of Frodo and Sam going forward and that says a lot because these Hobbits are awful.
quote:
I’m not a fan of the over the top elf combat scenes with Galadriel and Theo’s guardian. I mean, I get it. The elves are great fighters. But that’s all a bit much. One versus thirty? It’s really cringe, honestly.
Really no different than Legolas in LOTR.

Why? Almost of anything they can do, I think having Tom Bombadil play a significant role would be the thing that pisses me off the most. I said I wasn't going to watch S2 because some things pissed me off but I gave in but that would do it for me. Why give the one character that Tolkien truly wanted to remain a mystery a definitive story or background? That's what makes him such an iconic character and you'd just be saying "Nah, who cares what Tolkien wanted, this is what we want." Amazon gave them the reigns so they can do that if they chose, but it would be incredibly lame on their part and just another example of them showing they really don't want to tell a Tolkien story, or care to show any regard to timeless characters.
I say all this and we might not ever see Tom Bombadil again other than this next episode (I hope), so I'm not going to be mad over it just yet

Just checking in to see if the pace has picked up in this season? That was one of my biggest drawbacks to last season and struggling to finish it.

At one time I read somewhere that in Tolkiens notes he had one version of the blue wizards story where they formed some sort of alliance with Sauron. In other notes, the story of the blue wizards were more aligned with "the good guys". So it seems as though there was at one point in Tolkien's story telling some exploration of different possibilities as it relates to the blue wizards..
(edited for clarity..)

Well if they could, which I know is hard stretch, make a great story for him I would be al right with him. I would rather story lines be created where no information is there instead of rewriting everything like they are doing.
But unless he comes again he is still a mystery.

This show kinda drives me crazy. Skme stuff they are doing very well. Others, not so much.
Annatar & Celebrimbor storyline continues to be the best part of this show
The dwarf storyline has gotten really good but the stone singing stuff is so stupid
The wizard is definitely Gandalf unfortunately. Tom Bombadil is definitely not goofy enough. He should be making zero sense
Númenor is about to heat up. That vision Pharazon had is setting things in motion

The biggest issue with this show is how fast the characters are able to traverse the land.
How did an army of Mordor orcs get to eregion so quickly?
