Episode with the Jonas brother and party. I think they hired him for entertainment for the party, but he really is not an investor. I also think the 10 million is for a fictious hotel, I think they are playing a scam to try and get the money for their church, remember they talked about the land being a sanctuary.

I think the Lissons being responsible for trying to kill Eli is a good call. Take him out, let Jesse take over and use him as a puppet for money.

It was the episode where the couples were bowling and Jesse told them he couldn't get the money and they got mad. I think that was the BJ baptism episode. Maybe.

If the Lissons are involved it would just be lazy writing. Not that I’m expecting some kind of high level stuff in a comedy. But if they were the ones you would hope they would at least keep them involved throughout the season and make you think a little bit. Instead of “oh yeah that couple from 8 episodes ago we haven’t seen since did it.”

I agree. The only time I laughed at the muscle men is when it showed that fat lady in glasses for a split second dancing on stage with them.

Totally agree! I also felt this episode was extremely anticlimactic after the way the previous one ended. Yes it had some funny stuff but it was a filler episode for sure.

I agree that there aren’t other options.
The whole part about Junior not being involved in anything seemed hastily written, and if he is being honest (which I think he is), it is going to lead to a ton of explanations for a 30-35 minute comedy show about how the Lissons not only killed the journalist but had motorcycle assassins go after Eli repeatedly.
So I also agree with the OP that is pretty lazy writing.

it’s a lot to wrap up in 30 minutes I agree, but the writers have shown they can do it. I think what happens is that Jesse realizes that the lissons are scam artists just trying to get his money, and that they orchestrated the hit on Eli to make it happen. They also killed the reporter before he could bring the gemstones down, and there will be a reveal about Aimee Leigh of some sort.

there is also the matter of the missing 3MM dollars of memphis mafia money. That could be the connective tissue running thru the reporter/junior/Aimee Leigh storylines. It hasn’t been mentioned at all since Eli’s dad shot juniors dad, but Eli says he knows where it is.

That money built the church "stadium". Eli "knows where it is" means that he's willing to give an equal amount back to Junior. It's not a bag of cash sitting in a duffle bag in a hollowed out tree (as cool as that might be).

It did but Eli does not know about it. Amy Lee was giving him a morality test, but she gonna use that money. So I am hoping for a reveal of some type of outlandish hillbilly, redneck, Christian mafia that Baby Billy and Amy Lee had family ties. And Amy Lee use those connections to filter the seed money to Eli as a "donation." That would setup the next season.
Thing is when they were running out of the reporter's house covered in blood, there was someone that was watching them the whole time, we just do not know who yet.

Which is why I said Eli took out the reporter. He would not stand by and allow his dead wife’s name to be tarnished by that news getting out.
