It’s about the Thai soccer team that got trapped in a flooded cave and the effort to get them all out. Really really good, edge of your seat cave diving stuff and very emotional moments throughout the movie. Produced by the same team that did Free Solo.

In real time, I couldn’t watch that story back when it happened. I felt so sick to my stomach that they were going to die that I couldn’t watch it.

I didn’t follow it closely when it happened either, just kind of heard about it. Really remarkable story. Crazy that all the divers were hobbyists that had day jobs.

Yeah I named it my favorite 2021 movie in the Movie of 2021 thread for that exact reason, it is "edge-of-your-seat" engaging from start to finish.

It’s one of the best documentaries I’ve ever seen. I don’t think I moved an inch watching it.

The story was/is so compelling and Jimmy Chin directing it almost had to be special. Jimmy has a touch with high drama high consequences stories.

Wow it was incredible I remembered the story but had no idea all the kids and divers went through. Man that soccer team was so strong, I couldn't help but get a little emotional watching it.

Its a great documentary. I had no idea how much fell solely on the civilian divers to come up with the plan, convince others to do it, and then execute it. What a fricking stroke of luck that there was a world class cave diver who happened to be an anesthesiologist. When he was talking about how he was just making up his best guess about what to give them it was wild.

I also got the impression that the US military helped out a lot more than was shown. I get it that rescue was a source of pride for Thailand but it seemed to come down to the Brits and the US military pushing it through.

The part about an extraction plan if things went wrong was wild

I couldn't (and still can't) get over the best option was to put them under rather than try to train them for the journey back.
But...it worked, so.
GREAT DOC!

Jimmy Chin can do no wrong. They hit home runs every single time with their movies!

If I’m ever stuck in a cave like that, put me under. Training will not work

Although Imagine waking up underwater and blind with your hands tied behind your back!

Bingo! That's the part that was most risk related, right?

The doctor talking about remember having to push an unconscious child's face under water and tie his hand behind his back feeling a bit like euthanasia got to me. Just an unbelievable situation.

That doctor is amazing. When faced with an untenable situation he made the best worst decision possible and didn’t things that went against his better judgment because there was no other option. They way those divers took ownership of the kids after they saw them really stuck with me.

I can’t believe those little boys survived with only 15% O2 level in the air!

Great documentary. Thanks for the heads up, OP. Took my mind off of watching that bullshite basketball we have right now.
