what villain would you suggest? I mean that too, not being a smartass.
Superman is too powerful and that's why most of his movies aren't interesting. When you are the baddest guy on screen, then the conflict isn't very interesting.
Batman is a guy with money and cool shite. He can lose and that is what makes him a more interesting movie than Superman.
IMO and a lot of generalities -
I don't believe there is an answer that addresses the problem. It's an interesting situation and possibly an issue with him being the "first" super heroes. He's invincible, he can fly, shoot lasers, one all powerful thing that can harm him, etc. It almost feels like a trope list of skills for a comic superhero despite him being the one who invented the trope. Later superheroes had more flaws (and could be killed).
Another major issue, and what I responded to, there just aren't enough villains in Superman's lore with human-like motivations. Luthor and Zod are really the only ones who move that needle unless Superman is drastically depowered. Thanos ended up being badass because of how passionately he believed in his cause, he saw himself as a freedom fighter for the galaxy.
Unfortunately if Superman is written strong enough to defeat Darksied or Doomsday it also means that he has almost nothing to fear on earth
It's not a coincidence that Batman is probably the best comic hero because of his motivations and villains or mortality.
ETA: Feels like a pretty big reason why Superman's first teaser trailer was primarily concerned with showing him on the verge of death in the snow. As if they are trying to say, this version can be harmed.

Batman was the only comic I ever cared about. Superman was never interesting for the reasons many have given. There’s no fun when one guy is invincible. Batman was just a human that got himself in incredibly good shape, and had the money to put together a pretty cool arsenal.

Do a crossover... Superman v Thor

IF the story line originates from cartoons, which ALL of these do....the movie WILL be just like a cartoon...soooo tired of the recent trend !

Superman isn't some super invincible God. He's a boy from Kansas who just wants to help people. Sometimes people forget that. I'm hoping this movie reminds us that at the end of the day superheroes are super because they help people, not because they have fantastical powers.

Have you supported any of your claims? I haven’t seen it if you have.
you quoted the average age of a comic book reader. what do you think the average age is of those watching Superman cartoons, buying coloring books, shirts, pajamas, and plushes? You arent giving any "data" except the smallest form of conception for the character.
This board is going to be fun to watch as the world of mouth continues to be positive after tonight and it has a huge opening weekend.
What world do we now live in where people want a Superman movie to be bad?

You proceed from a false assumption and that’s probably why you can’t discuss this properly.

Some people will never understand.

The trailers are just him yelling at people, though.

So your point is bogus
If it turns out to be good, the people who are pessimistic now, will change their minds. Seen it happen many times here.
Some righties will wait for their favorite Youtubers to tell them how to feel.
Some lefties will wait to see what Reddit tells them to think.
If it ends up good, I should note that you will probably see a ton of people who defend it now, turn into contrarian haters.
They love the drama.
I will give an honest assessment as I see it. And one side or another will hate me for it.

Superman has to be the least interesting superhero
This is why I have always said that the best thing that was ever done with Superman was Smallville. Made him relatable and showed his struggle of fitting in with society.
