A good filmmaker lets an audience make up its own mind. This just preached at the very end. They brought you on a very sympathetic ride and gave you a terrible antagonist and then bludgeoned you at the end with the simplistic “ very important message that all people of conscience must agree on to be decent people”.

I loved the Al Sharpton appearance. So fricking brave. He's such a shite stain. This documentary would've been better if it didn't tell me why being a sniveling bed wetting pussy liberal is the best course of action to take in life.

It implied at the end that the SYG law only increased shootings deaths and was primarily used against black people, which is woefully dishonest. It could’ve had a “love thy neighbor message” but nah.

The lady should have kept her mouth shut.
The thing is, with kids, if you show them you are bothered by something they will continue to antagonize you because its a game now. All she had to do was ignore them a few times and its no longer fun to keep going play in a place she doesn't want you in.
But since she was incapable of doing that, yes, she should have gotten a lawyer.

Everyone had that old neighbor who was always bothered by kids playing, and it always will make the kids antagonize the old turd.
I know we had that one guy. He’d sit by his window just waiting for someone to touch a blade of grass so he could yell at us. We’re playing baseball in the open lot across the street and a foul ball goes in his yard and he’d literally come out and take the ball and go back inside.
I’m sure those kids picked on her, but she seemed like a lying son of bitch. Hard to believe anything she says.
The mom who was shot was doing what any parent would have done in that situation. frick that lady for shooting through the damn door. If she was scared, then call the cops and wait by the door with your gun in case they break the door.
There didn’t need to be a racist story to this, but expected it with Netflix, and this country.
The part that got me was the younger kid blaming himself for his mom getting shot, saying if I hadn’t left my tablet this wouldn’t have happened.

Maybe they left out some body cam footage, but from all the ones we saw I was never able to hear any of the kids stories differ or sound like they were lying. shite even the adult interactions on body cam were all calm and mostly well spoken, aside from the white lady yelling frick you to the cops after the mom was dead.
It was pretty clear the old lady was a POS on meds or not. Im not sure what the exact laws say, but that shooting wasn't done out of self defense or fear.

I thought about this, what I'm not ever going to do is put my child in a situation where he has to grow up without a dad unless its absolutely necessary. Standing up for my kid is one thing, but aggressively banging on a door and screaming is something I probably wont do if the circumstances were the same in this documentary. Extreme circumstances, absolutely.
But there are too many pyschos like this lady that are willing to go to the extreme and do so with zero remorse.

Yeah that entire part was just absolutely gut-wrenching.

The Spivey Boyd shooting in SC is nuts. Will follow. Thanks for sharing

My whole thing was this: if these kids were doing all of the things she said they were, and were truly being little menaces, then there is no way that this vindictive, neurotic lady wouldn't have some kind of video documentation of it. She wanted the police to do something about it so bad, and the fact that she had no video evidence for them leads me to believe that she had to be full of shite.
Was there ever any clarification on what the hell her running through the gate was all about?

there was one video they showed of the kids taunting her a bit from the open field. Little kid was saying somethign to her and then turned around and shook his butt at her.
But that likely was happening b/c of how much of a bitch she had been for such a long time. I seriously doubt they were doing that from the get go and was the reason she started calling the cops the first time. She was being an unreasonable bitch and no one liked her and they likely started to pick on her, and for good reason.
and she seemed to get caught in a lot of over exaggerating claims. But you have to remember this is Netflix, and it's tv, and they control the editing.

This. Can’t tell me the lady who “worked from home” couldn’t afford some $20 blink cameras on prime day

This was insane. She is insane.
If you haven't watched this, you should.

I do recall that, and thought, then why are you living in some shitty apartment "working" from home?

I know if someone is beating down my door threatening to kill me, I’m strapping up and calling the police.
You believe that part? I don't believe anything that lady says. She literally lied the entire documentary. She was probably knocking hard and saying give me my kids tablet back, no way she was screaming I'm going to kill you. That's just laughable, just another lie of hers. Out of all the dash cam videos, Ajika was the most peaceful of anyone when talking about Karen.
quote:
I believe had they found evidence of Ajike beating the door like a damaged deadbolt or door frame, Susan beats the case.
Would have been very easy to find if that existed. But they didn't so I highly doubt it was there. The door camera across the street that caught the gun fire would have registered someone screaming and violently beating on the door. There wasn't a broken door frame because she wasn't beating that hard.
quote:
I think Susan realized she fricked up and got scared and shot through the door thinking she was covered under the stand your ground law.
You really think she was scared? %100 she set the whole thing up. She wanted Ajika or anyone to come to her door so she could shoot them. It was pretty clear it was planned and her conviction shows that. I'm sure that's a pretty hard one to get convicted for in Florida but this was pretty clear cut it was pre meditated and not a scared for your life situation.

The white chick across the street with a phone always in one hand, a cigarette in the other, and like 4 mixed kids without dads was the star of the show.

Wrong. She was convicted of manslaughter.

I stand corrected. Either way, she knew what she was doing.
