He has some range. I've seen him pull off being the king of England as well as the loser in Bloodline.

You likely know by now but yes there is a supernatural thing going on in it.

Thank the Lord. All I could think of was if Terry had a twin I'm gonna be pissed.

Best beginning of a show I've seen in a while.

Read a couple of meh reviews, and I'm not big on supernatural stuff (but did enjoy Watchmen on HBO), but decided to check it out after seeing positive comments in here.

It's pretty good so far. Like someone said, it's worth sticking with for 10 episodes for sure.

It’s a small town and everyone knows everybody... cop doesn’t want to ruin a family if Bateman didn’t do it

Spoilers

I’m sorry but you must have missed a lot of important things. Ralph has Terry arrested in front of the entire town. He immediately thinks Terry was doing stuff to his kid. Terry literally says to Ralph, “you ruined our lives”.

Ralph’s actions got Terry killed. Terry’s wife and kids are being harassed by the community. The family was ruined by Ralph’s very first decision of how to handle everything.

The instigator was the detective who is working when the main guy is on admin leave. Same guy who was hog hunting. Not sure the significance but the scene implied that he gets thrown out regularly.

Maybe the significance is we will find out he was in the strip club the night Terry was in there covered in blood and changed his clothes?

Very realistic hunting scene. He was stalk hunting with a gun, because I guess he still needed to be 30 yards away with his 40x scope. Phone goes off, hog runs away, guy yells, hog run even further off in the opposite direction. Next thing you know... dead hog.

So they just went ahead and made Holly Gibney black, huh? The character has been in 3 books and 2 seasons of Mr. Mercedes as a white girl, but this show wasn't "diverse" enough I guess.

He didn't kill the hog. It was attacked by something. Mutilated.

Yeah, I remember this after it was mentioned in the post. I can’t recall if that was in the book. Hoskins was hunting in the book though. Remember the quick view of the kids body? Hog may have gotten off less violently.

It is very close to the book. And this stuff was very perplexing in the book before King started to unveil the truths. So I understand why you were lost and that is probably what the TV folks intended. In the book the lead up to and ending are what lost me. That's a few episodes ahead so fasten your seat belt for an unsteady ride.

I’ve only seen Cynthia Erivo in Bad Times at El Royals, and she was the best part about it. Also was just nominated for an Oscar for best actress in another film. I’m completely fine with her as Gibney

Dennis Lehane (Mystic River, Gone Baby Gone, Shutter Island) wrote the screenplay.

Edit - Didn’t someone on this thread compare this to Shutter Island?
