I watched this a few months ago. It holds up and is very dark/adult. They don't make kids movies like this anymore, that's for sure.

I watched it young and while I agree I do think it’s self explanatory why they don’t make kids movies like this anymore.

The words you used to describe it were literally dark and adult

I can still recite the baseball Pizza Hut commercial word for word. If you had the vhs, you know what I’m talking about

There used to be a genre of these sorts of movies that produced some legit bangers.

This, Dark Crystal, Labirynth, Rats of Nimh, Return to Oz, etc.

I remember my dad taking me to see Batman 89, Ghostbusters 2, TMNT, and a few others when they came out in theaters. I was born in '85

I was 9 when it came out.

Late 80's/early 90's was a great time to be a kid.

Still one of the greatest villain entrances of all time

After Optimus Prime, Shredder is the greatest cartoon villain ever IMO.

Oroku Saki was a bad arse

James Avery(RIP), Uncle Phil from Fresh Prince, voiced him in the cartoon.

As a kid I changed the whole intro song. My version was teenage mutant ninja turd holes. I still sing it every once in a while and my wife hates it lol

What a fricking entrance. I can’t wait. I remember being traumatized (for all the right reasons) as a kid seeing splinter chained up and Raph almost dead in the bathtub. April drawing Leonardo in mourning. Amazing scene. This movie was legit.

I still think this was a good movie. Especially at that time. It was a good blend of the cartoon and the comics.

They have that with the graphic novel "The Last Ronin" which follows one ninja turtle.

I bought that (along with the collectors edition of it and the hardcover of the original series (on hardcover). Sadly I have yet to have the time to sit and read it.
