Yeah, I enjoyed it too. I took my 10 year old yesterday and it was a blast for us to keep looking at each other and whispering when we saw (or thought we saw) some hints of other properties. I read last night that Chopper from Rebels was in it - gonna have to rewatch.
And people complaining about the CGI, or blasters, or the weaknesses of Storm Troopers are just nuts - this is all fantasy. It would be like trying to explain how Orcs can be beaten by Hobbits in the Lord of the Rings.
Star Wars is a fantasy about aliens, droids, surreal locations, and a mystical supernatural force. When it got away from this premise (remember all the politics in the prequels, Midi-chlorians explaining the power in the force?) it failed dramatically.
I mean, Star Trek, you can kinda understand because it is supposed to be a future version of ourselves without the supernatural - and they attempt in some ways to explain the science with babble-tech speeches. But Star Wars, please, it is pure fantasy with no explanation of how anything works and no need to even attempt to explain. Both work in their own way.

You are arguing the difference between a "Space Opera" and "Science Fiction"
basically, and I would agree with you.
Except for the idea that SW was SUPPOSED to be a space opera...but it's not and really never was. It tried to stay grounded in some form of scientific law, but was never quite plausible enough to avoid the sci-fi label.
Once JJ had X-Wings and TIEs dogfight within an atmosphere, all bets were off...and a planet draining its own sun was just like a big "frick it". It was a HUGE derail compared to both prequels and OT.
Oh, wait...I forgot Artoo flying in EpIII, and Anakin landing half a space cruiser/meteor. Nevermind, just the OT made an effort.

I noticed Barristan Selmy looking quite well during the rebel meetings. I kept thinking the rebel soldier that stayed back with Brodhi in the ship at the end was Ludacris, but I'm guessing I'm pretty wrong there.

The best part of the whole movie: "Are you serious?! I'm blind!"

This makes zero sense.

Are you just making stuff up now?

And what was the deal with Vader's little strut when he first came on screen? Was he played by a woman this time around?

That can't be real. Has to be a photoshop.

Googling a definition doesn't always give you the full answer. These "most popular answer must be right" sites are as guilty for the dummification of people as the fools that rely on them.
space operas, since the 60s (Star Trek) have been trending toward perating in a more and more "hard science fiction" universe than generic sci-fi. In recent/contemporary stories especially.
Have you ever read a space opera?

Just got done. A couple of things.
- So Vaders palace is on Mustafar, right? Damn Anakin, you're just a glutton for punishment.
- I was really wondering how they were going to pull this off with getting the plans off world without the Empire having enough time to approve some OT and get the glitch fixed. The answer was making this movie end immediately before ANH.
- Liked the throwbacks to ANH with gold leader and red leader and red five eating it.
- overall great. There are so many stories to be told in this universe. Keep them coming.

This has probably been mentioned already, but Vader fricking up the Rebels at the end of the movie was bone chilling. Seeing the red saber light up the dark hallway gave me goosebumps.

Yeah, I need a vine of Vader at the end to FAP to
Also, what am I not seeing in the pic above? Explain
