It definitely was. It was good because the battle was great.
The rest really drove home what a homerun they hit with Ridley and Driver in the main story though.

Ok, describe the characters then. Do they pass the Plinkett Test? That entails that you can't talk about what they looked like, what costume they wore, what their powers were, or what their role in the movie was.
I think most people could describe Rey, Kylo Ren, and Poe in that manner. Seriously, please try that with Rogue One's pathetic SJW cast.

They were honestly well done. I couldn't tell the difference at all as they looked so damn real to me.
Say what you want about the story lines and character development but disney is clearly spending their money well on movie magic and CGI.

I liked it, it was kinda sorta what I expected...but not, at the same time. The cameos were cool.
It's amazing they went to all that trouble, just so a little farm boy from tattooine could steal all the thunder

I think that was the point. The character development in the new era of star wars clearly belongs to Kylo Ren and Rey as those two are going to be drivers of the new franchise, this movie was intended to fill in the holes after episode 3 and Star Wars rebels.

Not with you specifically, but this is what is going to divide me with the rest of the board. I have no problem with the plot, but holy shite could this have used a rewrite.
Honestly, how much more fun would the movie have been with the pilot being like Scotty from Star Trek. Instead he sits in his cell and only serves the plot. This sure as hell should have had another writer to flesh out the characters. They save for K2 are universally terrible.

I personally as a movie goer foremost look for likable characters. That's the first thing I want to see. That's why I like LOST so much is the characters were so great and we're all (save for Sayid) given highly satisfying conclusions.
I'm not forgiving of movies with shitty characters though. It is my pet peeve. I need to form a bond with them, or unless your movie is amazing outside of it, I'm probably not going to like it. This is the case here.

Just think about it.
Luke Skywalker and R2-D2 are inconspicuously rolling around in caves and sand on Tattooine with a disk on themselves that contains information that a huge space battle and bloody ground battle was just fought over not too long ago and the empire lost one of their biggest and most important outposts in the process and the rebels lost a huge number of their fleet along with a flagship.

I will admit that Jyn annoyed me when she got mad at the main guy even though he didn't shoot her dad. Seemed a little bit spoiled with that one.
