you can thank the easily-offended snowflake fanboys. Us normal, grown adults who enjoy Star Wars for what it is wouldn’t have spammed the board with this bullshite

This looks like a typical day on the board after a Game of Thrones episode. What's the big deal?

Ah,the typical comeback when someone posts a valid comment about people losing their minds (as pointed out in the OP)

The typical snarky comeback whenever someone makes a snarky comeback about people losing their minds about other people losing their minds (as pointed out in all of the other threads)

for maybe a day or so after the episode, yeah, but not all day every day for almost a week.

Eh, I don't see much difference between the two. That doesn't make GoT any more bearable when you aren't into GoT.

Look, if GoT folks won't control their posts, then other groups/fans/groups shouldn't either If we want to start a better board environment GoT is a much bigger problem than Star Wars. This will die down fast, and we'll get a few Star Wars threads here and there. GoT, especially during a season, is persistently a problem in this respect.

I’ve been following this board for a while now and honestly can’t remember any show or movie completely dominating all the threads for this length of time

80% of the threads on the first five pages are Star Wars related.

What is the deal?

Every random thought deserves its own thread?

I thought about bumping every non Star Wars thread just to get em off the first page but figured that induce a ban.

Thanks for providing this safe space.

Like I said, there have been times recently with GoT where nearly every thread on Page 1 is GoT. It's unfortunate when it happens, so I almost made a thread about it, but I didn't. And the first page is really all that matters. I've called out GoT in threads like this where this is discussed.

I'm not saying I don't agree with the idea that there are too many Star Wars thread, there are, but unless GoT folks get a better handle on creating threads, then its a bit hypocritical to ask Star Wars fans to do it, or any other property for that matter.

8-10 threads on any one thing/episode/movie is probably too much. And that happens with GoT consistently.

People who didn't like this movie are quickly getting on the same level as vegans, crossfitters and anti-vaxxers.

...and yet you created another Star Wars thread.

It’s the second highest movie opening of all time, the most popular franchise in history, and a polarizing movie to boot. What were you expecting?

Dude, it's been 80% SW threads on the first page since last Thursday night.

During GoT, you have your 3-4 various episode threads, then a handful of others started for whatever random thought has popped into a poster's head.

It's never been this bad.

Can someone give me a very brief summary of why this movie is considered bad and the SJW aspect people are mentioning?

This is a good description I tried to keep my bias out of:

The movie studio decided it would be a good idea to make a trilogy.

They hired JJ Abrams (a competent director) and Lawrence Kasdan (OT screen writer very familiar with Star Wars lore) to direct and write the first movie - The Force Awakens.

In that movie they set up a bunch of story lines and cliff hangers and new characters to be fleshed out as the trilogy continues. And they spend two years via advertising and interviews hyping up those story lines and all the cool new stuff in the trilogy.

The movie studio then hired a completely different writer and director for the second movie and gave him complete autonomy to do whatever he wanted with no regard for the first movie or any over arching story lines in the trilogy.

That director then quite literally from the first scene to the last scene of the movie systematically decided to throw away every single plot line from the first movie of the trilogy because the director didn't feel like following them and further he decided to just say frick it and not pay attention to any established Star Wars universe lore because he didn't give a shite about the fans or the established IP. He's directly quoted as confirming these in interviews. I didn't make that up.

About a third of the film is dedicated to two terrible characters in a side plot that makes no sense and ultimately fails and has nothing to do with the plot. Those characters happen to be black and Asian.

The movie is a disjointed mess, it's basically ruined the entire trilogy and wrecked all the great things The Force Awakens had brought to the table.

It had a terrible script, a barely discernable plot, and every single action sequence had an ex machina plot armor moment that took you out the film.

The director is an outspoken SJW, and it's easy to see the themes and anger over the perceived SJW aspect, but people should really be mad at the studio's decision to hire Johnson in the first place and Johnson's decision (confirmed by his own personal admission) to just say frick star wars lore and frick TFA, I'm just going to make whatever the hell movie I feel like and throw it out there.

I could go on rightfully nitpicking the horrendous character decisions and pathetic script writing and all of the nerdy star wars issues but that's a pretty good broad description of why the movie is a pile of shite.
