1997 these were the best picture nominees.

The Full Monty, Uberto Pasolini, producer (Fox Searchlight)
Good Will Hunting, Lawrence Bender, producer (Miramax)

Titanic, James Cameron and Jon Landau, producers (Paramount and 20th Century Fox)

Titanic didn't have much competition.

Not for best picture, but then again, neither was Titanic. L.A. Confidential was really good.

I guess Kate Winslet's tits pushed it over the edge?

To get us caught up:

The Dark Knight has earned a total of 441 million dollars (domestic), good enough for third enough on the all-time list, and 263 million abroad, which equals a total of about 705 million total.

It is less than 20 million dollars away from passing Star Wars and moving to number 2 all- time.

After the same number of days, Titantic had brought in 198 million.

The Dark Knight has recorded:

The largest Days: (1-14), (16-19), (23-24)
The second largest Days: 15, 21, 22
The third largest Day: 20

Weekend Breakdown:

First Weekend: 158 million
Second Weekend: 75 million
Third Weekend: 42 million
Fourth Weekend: 26 million

TDK now 2nd all time domestic. Weekend estimates have it at $471,493,000 (Estimate) after 31 days. $129295188 away from Titanic. Made 29,864,360 over the last 7 days, which at that rate you could say TDK is only 5 weeks away from catching Titanic

TDK has now entered Titanic's area of strength, and it isn't doing to good of a job in comparison.

TDK made $16,780,000 this weekend, it's 5th.

By comparison, Titanic made $30 million in it's 5th weekend, by far the highest grossing 5th weekend of all-time

TDK's weekend's are starting to fall in comparison with the all-time numbers. It had the highest grossing 1st & 2nd weekends, but each weekend since, it has fallen further down the lists.

1st Weekend - #1 all time

2nd weekend - #1 all time

3rd weekend - #2 all time

4th weekend - #3 all time

5th weekend - #4 all time

TDk is going to have to settle with "just" being the 2nd highest grossing movie of all-time

Not gonna be able to maintain that. It is going to have, at a minimum, a 30 to 35% decline each weekend.

With a conserative 30% decline, it will earn:

6th weekend = $11.7 million... ($25.2 million)

7th weekend = $8.2 million... ($25.9 million)

8th weekend = $5.7 million... ($23.0 million)

9th weekend = $3.9 million... ($28.2 million)
