No deals have been closed yet but I’ve learned that the proposed spinoff is a family comedy, which was the brainchild of Wilson and The Office executive producer/showrunner Paul Lieberstein (Toby). It will have Dwight (Wilson) living at the Schrute family beet farm and bed & breakfast, which have been featured on the show several times, including in an episode where Jim and Pam visited Dwight there. (photos below) The potential spinoff will be introduced in an Office episode later this season set at Schrute Farms.

*UPDATE: Last night Rainn Wilson tweeted: "Don't believe everything you read in the press, ok?" https://twitter.com/rainnwilson
So this show might not have legs afterall...

at least they are finally making funeral plans for the Office. All great things must come to an end, especially once Steve CArrell leaves.

This makes me sad. 30 minutes of Dwight at a time is too much.

This has "Joey" written all over it

I'm having a difficult time envisioning this show at all. I'm guessing that it will be shot in a similar way to The Office, mockumentary style. But why would cameras continue to follow Dwight after he departs from the office? I guess they could invent some reason in the first episode and that would be that.
I don't see Dwight carrying a show either; but maybe they get him a good supporting cast and it turns out ok. Who knows, it's all about the chemistry of the cast and quality of the story line. I think the chemistry will be there since Rainn is a talented actor who seems fun to work with and off of, but I'm having doubts that there will be many possible intriguing story lines with what we know about the setup of the show so far.

Or maybe Frazier. Or Mork and Mindy.

This is going to ruin an amazing character.

The guy who plays Mose is a co-producer for Parks and Recreation, so presumably he wouldn't have time to be in the new show. They'd have to write him out or replace him with somebody else. This idea has fail written all over it. Maybe RW just wants to get one big payday while he's still well known.

Why do people keep want to have spinoff shows with characters that are funny as hell in the original series....but only as SUPPORTING characters.

Should do a spinoff with Mose and have Dwight as supporting role. Hahah

I was going to post this, but I think it could work. I know most spinoffs don't work, but I could see this one doing okay for at least two or three seasons.
