Watched the first few episodes.

Laughed out loud a few times (the dumb guy reporter screaming at people like he's a cop caught me off guard).

It's an enjoyable show, but for now I don't see a Michael Scott, Ron Swanson, or Creed Branton level character rising to the top in this.

Haven't read the thread yet, but I am through 4 episodes and am really liking it so far.

It seems strange that they are forcing the Ned/Mare relationship so fast. Also, I like the Ned character, and it seems like he would be far too smart to immediately start a relationship with a subordinate.

Esmerelda. I go back and forth on her. One minute I absolutely hate her, and the next minute I crack up and some dumb shite she says. I do think they are trying way too hard with the character though. There have already been about 3 or 4 very legit reasons for Ned to fire her in the first few episodes alone.

Not sure why, but I do like Ken. I assume he's their "awkward Michael Scott" person to a degree.

I didn't like Detrick at first, but he is growing on me. I like that he's a tryhard and sort of knows it.

This show tells me that I just really like Domhnall Gleeson. He's solid in just about everything.

Something about Mare is really sexy to me. Not sure what either. She isn't overly attractive or pretty, but at the same time I think she is both. Maybe it's because she's laid back? Who knows. I've never seen Chelsea Frei in anything that I can remember, but I dig her. The Asian chick is sort of cute too.

Initially I felt like randomly throwing Oscar in the show would be annoying. But I actually am enjoying what he brings.

The old black dude is annoying. They need to find a way to use him better.

Some of the other characters just seem weird/off to me. So hopefully they find their groove with them and they become more enjoyable.

All in all I am digging the show so far, and I do think they do a decent job of not trying to be The Office, while still pulling things from that show that work.

I don't mind that too much. It seems natural that a single guy would be interested in a young attractive woman at work. I understand the HR nightmare of what might happen but so far he hasn't seemed reckless.

The part that is a little concerning is knowing that this is a spin-off of a show that relied very heavily on the "will they -- won't they?", love triangles and relationship drama. And ultimately that derailed the show in the final season (if not sooner). If I didn't know that about The Office, I wouldn't have those reservations though.

I agree here. I like the idea of having someone there to cause a little chaos but they make her so insubordinate at times that it breaks the realism when she isn't reprimanded or fired.

Watched the first three episodes.

The Italian woman has to be one of the worst television characters ever conceived.

Watched the first episode the other day, and this was my takeaway. She’s beyond annoying.

If you go back and watch the first season of The Office, Michael was kind of insufferable. They didnt find their groove with his character until season 2. So I'm hoping it's the same for Esmeralda

We powered through and the series gets its footing in the 4th and 5th episodes. The blogger episode was good, the catfishing episode was great. Episode 6 was good. I'm looking forward to the rest of the season now, more so than after the first couple of episodes.

Just finished the season. I gotta say that it exceeded my expectations, which were not high. Is it as good as season 1 of the office? Maybe not but IMO it is not far off. The cast is great overall. Love the dynamic between Ned and the British guy and Marv. Esmeralda is annoying but she is kinda funny at times too. I’m happy to see a return to form for a comedy on a major network. Greg Daniels is just good…and Gleason is fantastic as the lead and straight man. The second season of this show has the potential to be great! It’s weird that they chose to only release it on peacock. It’s better than just about any other show NBC airs.

I too think they rushed the love story a bit too much. But I’m sure it’ll work out.

The season ended well. I don’t mind that they accelerated the office romance. I doubt that they wanted comparisons to Jim and Pam (Though this is more Dave and Lisa from NewsRadio.)

I haven't read the rest of the thread.

1st 3 episodes are boring and unfunny

Helps if you see Ned as Wish.com Jim, and Esmerelda is clearly the Dwight

Starts to pick up on episode 4.

Catfish episode is the first episode that felt like an Office-ish show. I lol'd several times.

Black chick starts off amusingly silly, but quickly switches into "I am better because I have a vagina" mode. . .and just outstays her welcome

Old black guy isn't the Stanley, he's the Creed. He gets little screentime, but he hits almost every time at bat.

Young black dude has potential, think they will make him better going forward

Asian chick serves no purpose.

Ends a bit weak.

All in all I would recommend.

Can see it getting better

I think that is going to be black dude/asian chick, ultimately

Ned/Blondie is going to be a Andy/Erin situation, I'd wager. Big build up, dates a little while, split up.

NBC just announced that The Paper will be airing on the network in November. I think this is the first Peacock show to get a network release.

Just in the first episode, she is more malevolent than the worst that Michael Scott could ever imagine being.

That being said it was better than I thought it could be. This Oscar iteration was pretty hilarious.

I liked this show more than I anticipated. It was pretty good.

Hated Esmeralda with a passion though
