Andy as manager makes no sense. He's not good with people, or stress, and he can't sell for shite. With Michael, yes he was a poor manager, but it made sense for him to have climbed the ladder because he could sell like a champ.
I know its a sitcom, but it was the occasional reminder that Michael was good at something that kept the status quo of him as boss mildly believable.
