thisnis a cool edgy fresh take
Roy is a dick. he doesn’t appreciate Pam and doesn’t care about her.
Dwight gets better as the series goes on which makes people forget how enormous of an a-hole he is early on.

It's like the rewatch of parks and rec. Leslie Knope is a manipulative sociopath with little to no redeeming qualities - i mean that was pretty obvious on the first watch but going into it with that knowledge makes you hate her even more on the rewatch. Why the other characters like her so much is beyond me.
I think your being a bit harsh on Leslie playing a caricature.
I like articles about the politics of Parks and Rec. If all Liberal do gooders in the government were as hardworking as Leslie and all Libertarians as giving and generous as Ron the world would be a better place.
Leslie is usually trying to do the right thing but is willing to use and abuse her job and her friends to get what she wants.
Ron thinks government is terrible but goes out of his way to help his workplace proximity associates out of his own time and money most often.

i don't think Jim is a jerk perse, but he's (along with Pam, Oscar, and Toby) supposed to be the normal person's view into working with a bunch of weird offbeat people.
he thinks he's better than them (while working at the same place for years and not moving up) and thus acts accordingly.
by the time he gets in the snowball fight and sees all the complaints by Dwight over legit pranks, and is caught lying about Jury Duty he realizes he's the a-hole.
Jim participating in the goofy search for AARM and his friendship with Dwight at the end of the series is a good character arc. He doesn't think he's better than the rest of the office by the end.

No. He wanted him fired but David specifically says he isn’t firing Charles. Plus Charles is still with the company later at the picnic when he’s giving shite to Jim for being a bitch athletically (which was great).
ETA: one day I’m going to pay attention and take notes of all the times Jim sucked and slacked off at his job. What stuck out to me was I recently saw the Charles Minor episode and Jim is talking himself up as some great model employee, when in actuality he’s a good worker but spends most of his time fricking off and actively not working.

Went to upvote the OP and found out I already did 6 years ago.
I’d have to agree. During its initial run, I was a big fan of Jim and Pam. My next evolution was thinking Jim should have stayed with Karen. Now Jim is a bit annoying.

Seeing them humbled were some of my favorite moments on the show.
The daycare owner telling Jim and Pam they aren't as charming as they think they are is my second favorite scene of Jim getting a dose of his own shite, behind Dwight getting his sweet revenge with the snowball fight of course.

Proof is when somebody doesn't buy his bullshitee or he's not understanding something with a group of strangers and he looks totally surprised.
The way they wrote that part for Idris Elba was well done in that respect. Him not buying any of Jim’s bullshite was great.

Hated that guy. Because he is “normal.” Not in the sense that he is the “norm”, but there are lots of guys just like him.
Valentines day episode is the best example of a narcissistic selfish a-hole.
His “gift” to Pam is “the greatest sex of your life.”

He didn't show Pam attention, would never set a wedding date, didn't support her wanting to do more with her life (Art School), leaving her to go away on weekends with his friends, and gets drunk with his brother all the time. Didn't he forget her somewhere on a trip or something??
But for Valentines he gave her the best sex of her life

My wife agrees. Tried to get her into the office one time. Showed her a few of my favorite episodes, including the one where Jim and Pam go to stay at the shrute beet farm.
My wife just could get past jim and Pam mostly making of fun of everyone else.

I loved the entire Michael Scott Paper Company/Charles Minor arc. Ryan and Oam fighting in that utility closet are some of my favorite Office insults but I liked all of thos those episodes for many reasons.
'She'd be like a six in New York but she's a seven in Scranton.'
And Jenna Fischer said that line was improved by BJ Novak.
BTW, watch BJ's movie Vengeance. He wrote, directed, and starred in it. It's funny and heartwarming and has hilarious cameos by John Mayer and Ashton Kutcher.
