Just got out from seeing it in IMAX. It was a great experience and a fun epic movie. Theater was packed as well. Can’t imagine not seeing a movie because a black woman and a trans person made up 5 minutes of a 3 hour movie.

I had hoped he would discuss the boats
Owner of Viking ship used in The Odyssey says studio has not paid bill for damage

I doubt Nolan even knows about that. Says they sent 1 invoice a year ago and never heard anything back. Probably sitting in a stack of paper somewhere at Universal.

Damn, someone done uploaded the entire movie on Twitter. Pretty decent quality, too.

Why would anyone expect The Odyssey to be like a lord of the rings movie?

Except that Universal claims they paid it, so no, not forgotten on a stack. This guy apparently felt his only recourse was to go public with it, so I doubt he sent one invoice and went to the press with no contact in between.
6500. Lupita's press-ons cost more than that. Pretty lame, Universal.

They should pay extra. I'm sure Nolan or Damon will pay it if Universal doesn't do anything. Also wouldn't this be on the production insurance? Highly doubt The Odyssey production wasn't insured.

Meaning a once in a generation all time great movie. Instead it was a 6.5 average movie like the hobbit. But you knew that. You just wanted to play stupid once again.

They probably can’t afford it because it will barley make a profit

Why would you go into a movie expecting it to be among the best movies ever? That's guaranteeing disappointment. And it is the mindset of a naive child.
Sorry, I wasn't expecting you to mean that you went into The Odyssey with the mindset of a naive child, as I also do not believe that you or anyone here went in expecting a "best movie ever."

I’m just saying this because I know it’s going to trigger you: Nolan probably made 5-10 million dollars off this movie today alone.

I like Nolan. Does that make you wanna cry?
I know it triggers you that majority of the people on these 2 threads thought the movie was average.
Hopefully the studio can afford to pay that man back his money for messing up the boat. Struggling for cash?

Just watched it this evening myself
And yeah...they have very minor roles in the movie and the 5 minutes is probably about right.
Excellent movie

Or maybe people want an accurate representation of the foundational piece of art that inspired Alexander the Great to cross the Hellespont.
Yes in 2026 that’s what people want the most out of a movie

Saw it at Alamo. It was alright. Pretty fun throughout. The cuts are a bit messy. I read someone describe it like a video game where after you beat one level you go to another that's completely different. I think that's fairly accurate.
The Circe scene was wild. Definitely my favorite part. "Back into your disguises" was a GREAT line.
The cyclops scene was really jilted and hard to follow visually with some of the cuts. But that scream was awesome. Might be the loudest thing I've ever heard in a theater.
The other gods and monsters stuff could've been better. The storm was good but most of the rest felt undercooked.
Suitor stuff was meh.
Roll your eyes at the "woke" parts if you want (I did) but on the whole it's pretty on par with Nolan's other films.

As someone who regards the Odyssey as my favorite piece of literature, taking out the olive tree test was far more disgraceful than what amounted to a few minutes of retarded casting
That’s the actual climax of the story. Killing the suitors is just another step on the way back. When she knows it’s actually him, that’s when he’s made it home
