Yeah, I think you're full of shite. I think you just wanted to make some snarky comment about white people because that's how you are.

Well he did omit the execution of the maids at the end of the movie, which were done by hanging for sleeping with the suitors.

Plus he forced them to clean the room and drag the dead bodies...

Not only is it an impressively low drop, that’s more than Oppenheimer made its opening weekend.

Just saw it... lots to say:

Basically, it's like watching a video game for 3 hours and not in a good way. Think Assassin's Creed cut scene level of writing. By far, writing is the weakest part of this movie.

I know there's criticism about being true to the original but honestly, it's probably "too" true. The first hour is shockingly bad. In all honesty, I wouldn't have made it through 45 minutes if I were watching at home. Tom Holland is dreadful in this and he's present way too much near the beginning.

I know it's technically 'faithful' to switch back and forth between the storylines but it's too chaotic for a modern film. They needed to take their artistic license in structuring a plot, not in rewriting motivations and characters.

There's also no scene setting whatsoever. You're just thrust into random scenes and if you don't have at least a working knowledge of the source material, I don't know how you'd manage to figure out what the hell is going on for that first hour.

For all the noise about Helen, Lupida Nyong'o is actually one of the better parts of the filim. She and Hathaway were able to conjure something, at least, through the writing.

Movie gets significantly better after the Circe scene. It finishes quite well but man, that first hour is brutal. Anyone saying this is anything but an okay, 6.5/10 film is saying so only because they want to believe that.

Saw it yesterday. First movie I’ve seen in a theatre in years. It was fantastic. Well worth the ridiculous prices. Can’t wait for the second watch.

Do you think BB III is the TD screen name for Colman Domingo? I think you missed that was a quote.

This is majority of the consensus. I gave it a 6/10. The beginning of the movie is just flat out bad. Everyone thought they were getting a lord of the rings movie but what we got was the 3rd hobbit movie.

I happened upon 2 interesting YT videos last night.

Neither is a review of the movie per se, but they approach two aspects of the movie. Both titles are a bit clickbait, so don't judge them by that. Neither reinforces a single viewpoint so expect your toes to be stepped on no matter your opinion.

The first is relatively short and is done by a linguist and looks at the subject of translations. I think most of the information is more or less innate and logical for most but I still felt it was interesting in the details.

The second is from a Greek archaeologist, and he approaches it mainly from a mythology POV. I had hoped he would discuss the boats but he didn't but at least I understand why Nolan made that compromise whether I like it or not. It is longer but it does have chapter titles so you can jump around.
