So the film gets shot with imax 70mm knowing that it increases production costs but also knowing the tickets are sold for a premium… and we are supposed to ignore them as if it causes “inflated” numbers? GTFO.

Literally no one said this wasn't going to be the outcome. His cache as a director and the original property alone are enough to carry it. The question is if the casting decisions and dialogue are causing negative harm to things and the answer is likely to be yes.
Given all the factors, this should be the biggest movie of all time by a wide margin. The reality is that it got beat out comfortably in the US market by Toy Story 5.

This is not passion. I liked it, I thought it was really good. That's about it.
A better question is why so many of you want a film you haven't seen and won't to fail so badly

Its R rated, which already limits its mass appeal.
And I also have no idea how much of an appeal Nolan or The Odyssey as a story has towards younger audiences.
