And it's his movie, if he wants to do that ok. It may still be a good movie, it might suck, I have no idea. I'll give it a shot on streaming unless it's Madame Web level garbage.
What I don't understand is people implying if not outright claiming that's not what he's doing. He wanted to be edgy with some of his casting choices and apparently the story itself and he's Christopher Nolan and he's got the pull to do that. He could have put aliens in it if he wanted.
But I seriously, seriously doubt anybody involved with this story was surprised that there were negative reactions to at least two of his casting choices. They wanted the controversy and probably discussed it at meetings & how best to respond and use it for publicity.

I'm sort of a Nolan fanboy and I'm questioning the shite out of his casting in this one.
But I'll still see it and reserve final judgement after that. He's earned that, I think.

Same, my boys want to see it so we’re going opening night but all the concerns are valid. If you remember when the 1st trailer dropped almost everybody was struck by the modern vernacular being used and the weird looking armor. Then you had the conflicting comments and choices Nolan made about authenticity regarding music and other things he included like the armor, weapons etc. People weren’t attacking the concerns until the casting rumors started to be confirmed. Only then did we see that certain group begin to attack people questioning the movie.

Page seems to get cast a lot. Had a tv show or two and seems to pop up in indie movies.

Earned it for any other of his movies where the politics aren’t absolutely clear without seeing it.
You know exactly what this is from the casting and interviews, so no I don’t think he’s earned our money sight unseen on this one

What is even that with the music? Juno isn’t some huge figure or imposing warrior.

Can you even name one though? Pre-transition Page was nominated for an academy award in Juno, starred in the x-men franchise, inception, starred in multiple movies every year. Since then it's being documentaries, voice work and films that Page produced, wrote, or both.

I thought Umbrella Academy was good for a couple of seasons, and I think that one split her mental illness. Started as a girl on the show, ended pretending to be a boy.
I don't know if that's why the show flushed itself, as shows that have a lot of promise going quickly downhill seems to be a theme these days. And Taylor Sheridan isn't writing all of them.
