I enjoyed it for what it was - Pattinson was actually my fav character - the dude is just good, and i like Leguizamo as well.

They even made Argos pitiful looking. Total slap in the face to The Odyssey in every way.

Not having gods in the movie and having it based around human actions and consequences was kinda the entire point of removing the gods (besides athena) from the movie.

Athena isn’t in the movie. None of the fantastical characters or monsters are real in the movie. They exist in Odysseus’ drug riddled mind only.

Maybe ask the folks making these movies. Weird that they can't settle on getting their story straight.
Wakanda - Showed respect for the African people and different cultures across the continent.
Moana - speaks to the experiences and positive representation of the Oceanic people.
Rings of Power - A necessary redress of balance was made for the modern audience.
The Odyssey - updated for a more global community. And it's just a myth, so it doesn't matter what changes are made.

To introduce multiple additional characters and their influence/motivations would have doubled the length of the movie. And would not have added much to the story.

These people are just trying to control speech like always. A good example is their reaction to the “woke” argument. They invented the term and forced it into the current lexicon but it backfired so now they don’t want anyone using it. That’s why anytime the term is used when discussing movies these people’s minds turn into a bag full of cats.

I’d argue that removing characters from the actual voyage home, taking away their effect on Odysseus made everything in between Troy and Ithaca feel empty and rushed. I didn’t hate the scenes in Ithaca or Sparta but if it was a time (IMAX) issue he should’ve cut there and focused on the Odyssey itself but he didn’t want the gods or the monsters in the movie which takes away the story all together.

Ummm what? All the stuff that happened before his ship wrecks and he ends up on Calypso’s island actually happened. He just forgot for 7 years because he was hooked on the lotus.

It’s hilarious to me how thin skinned people are even when you show them direct side-by-side comparisons, their allegiance to their team won’t even allow them to admit to what they see.

Yes they wreck and he is on calypso’s island but all of his memories are suppressed, drug induced not even there mostly and effected by his PTSD. His wife and kid were before the wreck and he doesn’t remember them either.
