Never understood why people love Batman so much in the last 15 years.

I’d bet the Nolan trilogy played a part in his popularity sky rocketing. But as someone else pointed out, it’s not necessarily Batman. People love his rouges gallery especially the Joker. The Joker himself is probably one of the most popular and most recognizable fictional villains out there.

I also think smaller things like the animated series and video games have helped with his success.

But overall I think I can sum it up with like this:
Batman is a rich ninja badass despite having no powers. He’s also dark and mysterious. All of which people find cool. His villains are also seen as interesting as is Gotham’s environment and vibe. Superman is seen as overpowered and not as cool.

I’m not saying you have to agree with but that’s way I think more people have come to see it over the last 1-2 decades. Superman is still almost if not just as popular of course

What if you know people didn't want a God like superhero? Superman will always be fricking boring to me.

Spiderman and Batman are enhanced because their villains are all top tier. Superman cannot lose and never will lose. Boring.

Superman is the most unrelatable superhero ever. I'm going to sleep just thinking about his boring arse

I'd go back further than that, he was way popular before, not just the past 15 years or whatever.

The world Tim Burton brought to life in the 89 Batman, that was adopted into the animated series and movies afterwards really catapulted him into the upper crust. The Nolan movies came from people clamoring for a new Batman series after Schumacher drove the movie franchise off a cliff.

I knew he was popular before. The older movies weren’t that well received but people still knew about them. You also had the Adam West series and Batman the Animated series that also contributed. But I think his popularity in comparison to Superman went up way more over the last 1-2 decades after the Nolan movies.

Huh? Burton's films were very well received.

Ya not sure what you mean by that, the 89 Batman itself was one of the top grossing movies of all time when it was released, and had near universal critical acclaim. Jacks Joker is iconic and the movie won several awards for set design, which really set the tone for a darker Batman on film. And Elfmans score is legendary.

The thing that made me respect Superman more was The Boys and Invincible series. I guess I never pictured how scary Superman would be as a villain. I gained an entire new respect for Supes.

Indeed.

If Superman ever met those evil copycats, he would not rest until he has 100% assurance they can never ever hurt anyone ever again and he would do it in way that is consistent with the good, kind hearted, and wholesome values that Jonathan and Martha Kent raised him with.

Superman is someone who could impose himself to us as an invincible god, knowing he perfectly could do so with no trouble at all. But instead decided to be humanity's protector and submit to their laws.

The DC world has no idea how much they owe to Jonathan and Martha Kent for their delicate care and parenting of someone who would grow up to be the most powerful superhero in the world.

These art pieces is what I'm talking about when I say Superman has the gravitas of authority, reverence and respect. Even paranoid people like Batman trusts him as a brother. He's the moral north star of DC Comics.

Those two would have a really bad time against these guys. They are monsters Homelander and Omni-Man would shite their pants at the prospect of fighting; only a man strong in bravery, toughness and courage can defeat them.

He actually has lost before. Even died once. Superman is not even the most powerful being in the DC universe.

Not sure how I forgot about Nicholson’s Joker. For some reason I let the last 2 movies that Burton didn’t direct overshadow the first two. They were commercially a success but neither were necessarily regarded as good. That’s why I said people still knew about them.

Well I still feel Superman was just as, if not more popular, up until recently (last 20 years).

Batman is by far my favorite. I don’t love every iteration. But when he’s done right, no one can match him.

I love Gotham I love the architecture. I love Batman’s code. I love Batman’s villains.

He’s just the best and no one is close.

Batman was always my favorite and that was being a kid in the early 70s. He was just cooler, the guy has no powers and yet doesn't even use a gun. The other superheroes look to HIM to lead them. Superman is awesome though, as said to be that powerful and not abuse it. He's like Captain America but all powerful IMO. Maybe we need a superheroes bracket.

Villains make heroes. That's why Spider-Man and Batman are at the top. They have the best rouges galleries.

Spider-Man's primacy before the MCU was impressive.

Ditto for The Flash's consistent performance even without a major vehicle.

I grew up watching the Christopher Reeve Superman movies, so I would have to say Superman is #1 to me. I loved Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor and General Zod and his gang. Keaton's Batman came out in '89 IIRC correctly so that started the Batman craze for my generation. In the early 90's, there was a channel in Baton Rouge (FX or WBTR or something) that showed the Adam West Batman show. I thought it was great, in that campy sort of way. But Superman is still #1.

This has to be a joke. Superman has to be one of the lamest characters ever created. Batman the greatest.

Cap America Steve Roger's is a better take on the super boy scout that everyone in their universe looks up to..and is actually a great character..mostly by what the MCU did with him.

Superman, a man that can do anything but at the end of the day does nothing..should be no terrorism with a man like Superman around

I think he's fine as the leader of the avengers, but I find the performance to be very bland and boring. His first film is a snoozefest.
