The most popular superhero

A short 6 minute video listing the most popular superheroes through the years.

I don't know the source of this thing, so feel free to debate the legitimacy of this. It was a fun watch, nonetheless.
Spiderman and Batman reign supreme. Wonder Woman isn't nearly as popular as I thought she was, and maybe Disney isn't throwing money down the drain by releasing a Black Widow movie.

The origins of Wonder Woman is pretty 50 Shades of Grey.

They may be cool and interesting characters but they will never have the gravitas of authority and much loved respect that Superman has. He's the grandaddy of them all in the Superhero genre.
Superman is the closest thing to God with the incredible powers he has and yet he chooses to live as a regular Joe amongst normal every day civilians in a world that's practically made of flimsy cardboard to him.
And Spider-Man talks about with great power comes great responsibility but he's never had to deal with the kind of power Superman has.
If Superman abuses those world ending powers for even one second and it's widely publicized, the whole world and its paranoid governments will turn on him in an instant and will never ever trust him again. That's a responsibility 99% of humanity is just simply not prepared and mature enough to take on.
That makes Clark Kent - Superman, the greatest superhero in my mind.

Yep
Batman is just a cool guy with supercool stuff. Because he has billions to do so.

Yeah, the fact that he has no powers is why a lot of people really like the character. Also, Batman’s popularity is greatly enhanced by his awesome rogues gallery.

Yeah because somewhere deep in the back of our minds that could be us.

Do we like teenager Peter Parker or experienced, early to late twenties Peter Parker more?
I’m a fan of the younger iterations, even though I grew up on the 90s cartoon version, which I believe was older.

Spider-Man is probably the most relatable, some random kid from Queens that just happens to get super powers and is able to use his intelligence as well. No billionaire type money, no secret society training him, no Godlike broken powers, just some nerdy teen that was gifted powers

Tough question. I think I need a few hundred more tiresome movies, sequels, reboots and CW series to make a proper determination.

Yeah, plus his powers are not crazy godlike like Superman or Flash. His webbing was kind of glossed over though. Just voila! this high school kid suddenly created webbing stronger than steel and able to shoot it far from a palm button contraption. I liked how the Toby McGuire movie had the webbing as part of his powers.

No surprise there.

It would have been nice for them to show other tv instead of just the films.
Superman, Daredevil, and Flash had to be supported by the tv shows I would think also.

I understand those points. Admittedly, I've never been a superman fan. The point of his character being all powerful made him boring in my eyes. I could never seriously take him being in any real danger.
The thing that made me respect Superman more was The Boys and Invincible series. I guess I never pictured how scary Superman would be as a villain. I gained an entire new respect for Supes.
In addition, from this specific video, Spiderman and Batman has the luxury of having multiple extremely popular movies during the 2000s, along with the 90s series to bump them up. At this point in time, Ironman is arguably more popular.
If we looked at a list from the 70s and 80s, I'd wager that Superman would easily top it.

Wasn't even the most popular hero during the Golden Era.

Never understood why people love Batman so much in the last 15 years. Before that, Superman was the god.
I guess different generations and what they look up to.
Nobody could be Superman, he was superhuman.
But people think they can be the Batman, American dream...be rich, collect cool toys, don't need a job, fight crime.
I've never understood why the current perception is that Superman is boring. He's a complex character that has a love hate relationship with humans. He kinda loathes us and is annoyed that he's expected to solve Earth's problems.
Batman is just a rich vigilante who isn't expected to save the world.
Superman has the biggest burden, who has to hide his identity and is incredibly awkward in trying to fit in with peons. Superman would consider Batman a peon...a kickass wannabe hero.
But I guess when you're a kid, it's more fun pretending you can be a human superhero with no super powers vs. a superhero you can never be.
Btw, Spider-Man had the best cartoon.

Not that there’s anything wrong with that!

Yeah. I've never had any interest in Superman.
