Did he imagine the little girl the whole time and she ended up being the girl on the ship?
Is that what happened?
Was she also his daughter?
I just couldn’t take how fricking slow and boring it was.

Yep. She grows up to be the female pilot on the mission he’s trying to save
I hated the flashbacks because it was like 2 different people, you could’ve never guessed Clooney and the other young guy were supposed to be the same person

I will say that it was the top movie of 2020. It really captured the human will to persevere in almost impossible situations. Clooney will have a hard time doing a better job of directing than he did in this soon to be classic rewatch.

Not good; not good at all.
My lingering thoughts are mostly about brothers and sisters, fathers and daughters, and mothers and sons necessarily hooking up in the name of species regeneration and survival.
Ugh...

I couldn’t finish it. It just didn’t capture my attention.

Gotta love the fix though. We gonna find a planet over on the backside of Saturn that’s essentially the Garden of Eden to start over...
But Coach Taylor was like nah frick that. I’m going to go fly this shuttle back into the atmosphere so I can die just like my family in the dirty air.
Would have been nice if they world have clarified whether or not there were even any people living in “the colony” or were they just going to interracially inbreed their way into a new humanity?
I kept thinking that the shuttle that left was going to some type of space station to live until they found a planet to inhabit but apparently I was way off on that, I guess they went to go live temporarily underground until they died of radiation.
Out of all the things that took me out of the movie is that the shuttle was coming back from Jupiter or Saturn and all the people were awake for the ride. It would take like 4 or 5 years to go there each way.
This movie was a turd. My wife got up and left because she didn't even want to have to hear it while she was playing on her phone.

I caught on to that but others I was watching with didn't. Kinda confusing. Problem is, we all know what Clooney looked like as a young adult, so whether they use another actor or some sort of deep fake, it misses more than it hits. It's better done when we see an adult in contrast to a child, than a younger adult and an older one.
( Young Elanor 'Ellie' Arroway in CONTACT, then older Ellie - Jodie Foster )

It's an odd movie to watch. It's pretty slow and the CGI of the ship is pretty terrible.
eta: I called the girl being a hallucination 5 seconds after she came on screen.

Also seemed super ridiculous that gigantic space craft going to Jupiter had a crew of 5? Really?
Also, how were they going to save humanity? Have the baby girl and then have her dad bang her again?
They'd be screwed from an incest standpoint.

I put this movie right up there with "All is Lost".
Absolutely pointless movie. This was a money grab by Clooney.
Well, I guess there was one point to it. Money for the star.

it had a $100MM budget. Clooney ate shite on this one. His production company was one of the 2 financiers

Just finished it. I don't regret watching it. Wasn't a bad movie.
I thought the final scene was visually striking though, and by final scene I mean the credits just overlaying on the edge of the screen as they go about the mission. Just felt different from the standard end of story fade to black for credits. Gave it a sense of continuation but still closure. I don't feel like I'm describing this well.
