For as moving as the bathroom scene with Shy was, it felt so out of place with the whole revenge theme of the season. It made no sense. She went from hating Shy and thinking she did nothing wrong for months to apologizing and copping to a mistake she’d never admitted even to herself. Wait...what? And then she turned down the money?

Excellent observation.

Should've been a ten episode season.

I thought half the season was wasted. As someone pointed out, we never really see her do a full comedy routine. The Sophie thing had potential but we didn't see her for last two episodes. There simply was not much movement in the plot. Midge pretty much spun her wheels all season long. We had to do a little virtue signaling as Midge was making things better for women but at the end, Midge is still spinning her wheels.

The last episode was pretty good but when it wrapped up, I thought, that's it? There is no more to the season? It felt half baked.

Nice to see Lenny Bruce chew her arse out. About time someone finally did.

Midge and Lenny were great. Hoped they would have them do what they did....and they did.

Unless the aim of the entire season was to show Midge just spinning her wheels and self-sabotaging with the big payoff being Lenny’s big speech at the end telling her to unfrick herself, the season just felt aimless.

There were a ton of plot lines I just didn’t really care about in this season. Joel and Mei, Midge and the strip club, the magician, the Village Voice, and even Rose’s matchmaking.

Maybe it’s me, but for a show called The Marvelous Mrs Maisel, it felt like she was a supporting character throughout the entire season. This season was carried by Susie, Abe, Moishe, and even Sophie and Lenny.

Lenny’s speech to her at the end was outstanding, and a long time coming. One of Midge’s worst characteristics is her sanctimoniousness, so it was refreshing to hear Lenny call her on her bullshite about her “plan,” turning down gigs, and glorifying and glamorizing his worst faults and traits.

The Jackie O scene was great. It's like does this idiot ever learn? She has become a master at sabotaging herself

The minute she got onstage at that luncheon, I was like “wonder how Midge is going to frick this up.”

Who in God’s name would talk about screwing a random married man and getting walked in by the wife…at a ladies high society luncheon for a woman whose husband is running for President? Even the Life magazine routine was cringe.

Well, the crazies in the audience were egging her on to tell. Not that it makes it right, just sayin'. Midge SHOULD have know better, but this season seems to be "The Midge frick-ups". Still enjoyed the hell out of it, I like the secondary characters & it sets up well for final season.

That's why the show is frustrating. Four seasons in and Midge hasn't learned anything about boundaries or filters and she has paid a pretty price for it.

I believe we are overlooking the fact that she has only been in the business for about 2 years, with precarious management and basically learning it on the fly. Not making excuses, but she's still pretty much a novice. Basing all of this on first season being set in 1958 (per wiki) and season 4 ending with Kennedy running in 1960.

Even so, I'd venture to say she's accomplished quite a bit in that short time, missteps and all. So let's give her a break (for now).

The comedy routine at the Church, the Catskills with her father sitting right there, the Jackie O, Shy Baldwin debacle, then thinking she is too good to work gigs or open for Tony Bennett.

Man. Midge has kinda been the supreme self-sabotaging count this season that isn’t nearly living up to her massive ego. Dropping a marriage bomb and “taking the kids” bomb on Mei like that? In the hospital? She really needs to shut up more going forward.

Yes they were. The scene with Midge and Lenny at the hotel was magical. And him setting her arse straight at Carnegie Hall. Their “relationship” is going to break my fricking heart.

I enjoyed the season. And I think it’s appropriate next season is the end as you’re starting to get the feeling of we’re hanging out a little bit too long in Midge’s comedic purgatory. Lenny chewing her entitled arse out should be the catalyst for her to finally get her shite together.

Also loved Abe and Moish.

SPOILERS

I wonder if they will work in Lenny Bruce's real life drama into next season?
