Don’t expect many huge, universe-shaking answers to be revealed during the course of The Mandalorian season 2 – it seems as if showrunner Jon Favreau is going to keep fans on the hook for a few more seasons until he starts dropping any truly major revelations.

In a new interview, actor Giancarlo Esposito, who plays the Darksaber-wielding villain Moff Gideon, says that The Mandalorian is developing not only a third but a fourth season, and season 4 is “where you’re really gonna start to get answers.”

“The next season of The Mandalorian [season 2] is going to be very interesting because you’re going to start to find out the power of The Child, what The Child really means,” he said. “You will also start to uncover the origins of the Darksaber that Moff Gideon has and how that plays into previous Star Wars history connected to The Clone Wars and other shows. And you’ll start to get a real dramatic sense of the territory. We’re living in a universe that’s huge, and there’s so much to explore. So I think this show is going to start to lay the groundwork for the depth and breadth that’s going to come in season 3 and season 4, where you’re really gonna start to get answers.”

The Mandalorian season 2 certainly has a lot of ground to cover, because it is tasked with introducing live-action versions of characters like Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano, Temuera Morrison as Boba Fett, Timothy Olyphant as a character named Cobb Vanth who wears Boba Fett’s famous armor, Katee Sackhoff as Bo-Katan, and Michael Biehn as a bounty hunter. With all those characters likely comes a lot of backstory – and it seems like it might be too much backstory for one season of television to contain by itself.

Well. That sounds great.

Yes please. Not sure how I feel about Boba Fett, but I believe anything Star Wars that Dave Filoni touches will be awesome.

At least there is a story/plan across four seasons.

Disney couldn’t manage to do that across two movies

his interpretation of Anikens arc from TPM to Jedi, is fantastic. It makes the essence of the prequels a little better.

and even has a little political theme going on about it about father figures.

If they play the game of not revealing anything then they risk losing audience. Yes you must keep some secrets longer than others, but you absolutely can not keep all secrets.

Favreau has proven to be an exceptional story teller, so I really doubt he's going to dangle all the carrots

Agreed. I know others are way more heavily invested in the background of this stuff than I am, but I just like the show. I have no knowledge of any of the characters that are being mentioned. I would assume most viewers are like me. So, if the show is entertaining, that's all most will care about.

I'm convinced Baby Yoda ends up with Luke.

I don’t need to know too much because the mystery keeps it fun. Having a satisfying end is one thing, but the most important part is the journey. If you think about the last few minutes of the Game of Thrones finale, most of the end result of the series makes sense. The problem was in how they seemingly rushed to that end, which cheapened the arrival. Unearned reveals are ones the audience feels little investment in and thus those reveals will lack any real punch.

I don’t mind if this series drags out the plot or hides the ball so long as the stories each week are fun. A lot of y’all seem to forget that some of those serial adventure series back in the day were pretty great even when episodes barely had any bearing on one-another. There’s nothing wrong with good “monster of the week” episodes as long as they’re good.

I pre-ordered a year and it has been worth it for myself and the family. Having all of those older Disney movies within one app has been great. Still love watching "Mary Poppins" whenever I want.
