That's what I thought, and the fight after "the fight" was great. Nice to see mando use that armor.
Cold to leave that guy hanging.....

Good episode. I was a little disappointed they didn’t advance the storyline with baby Yoda. Love the little eggs they drop us.

Entertaining episode, but I had one problem with it: it did not further the plot at all.

I don't think this show is beholden to the idea of advancing some huge, overarching narrative. It's a love story to the Star Wars universe. There were episodes in S1 that were self-contained with minimal forward progress. I think that as a viewer we're meant to just love that we get Star Wars that isn't crap.

That being said, this episode was absolutely incredible. Great narrative, tons of references to the broader universe, and even a blatant Justified homage. The scene in the cantina with Mando and The Marshall in a stand off, the shot of the hand alongside the holster, plus Oliphant? I almost died of excitement. Even The Marshall pausing it to handle something bigger was very Raylan Givens-esque. Filoni nails the universe while making it an absolute delight to watch. This is what Kurosawa/Eastwood looks like in a galaxy far, far away. And those archetypes are always worth watching.

Mando has his end goal to re-unite the child back with it's kind. They have a lot of flashbacks of his pre-Mando time so I wonder if he as a foundling ultimately links up with his own kind?

Sooner or later he will have to start picking up a trail and leads as to where all the Yodas may be.

I wouldn't say that per se. There is the overarching narrative of getting the kid back to his kind.

I just don't think we can really say today that Episode 1 didn't advance the plot without knowing what happens going forward.

I also don't think it's a crime to not have him find what he's looking for in every single episode. It would be horribly unrealistic if Mando found what he needed from the jump.

Oh, I agree. However, the story is huge. Dropping a little bit of information to push the story forward isn't uncalled for. I love the episode and the series BTW.

Talked shite about hunting and killing Mandalorians then taking their armor. Dude was dead as soon as he said that.

Speaking off, what was that the sand people found in the remains of the dragon? An egg?

Loved Fett at the end. Entire episode was fantastic. Lots of fun in and of itself and the little eggs.

Also, was the Red 5 unit the same one the jawas tried to sell the skywalkers but that malfunctioned so that R2D2 could be picked up? I need to re-watch both scenes.

I thought to myself no way did they just substitute sand raiders/Krayt dragon for Jawas/Mudhorn.

I thought the item looked more like a perfect round ball then an egg so I figured it was like a pearl and not an egg.

That was a krayt dragon pearl. It was a reference to the KOTOR games when you have a mission to kill a krayt dragon to get its pearl. You can either give the pearl to the sand people to help earn their respect or you can keep it to use as a component for upgrading your lightsaber.

Thanks- hard to tell whats generally an easter egg or whats a relevant plot topic which may come back into play - and hell sometimes they can be both.

This one is definitely both as krayt dragon pearls can be force-amplifying objects. See, Krayt dragons eat stones to aid in digestion, and sometimes, they accidentally eat kyber crystals, which are the stones used in making light sabers as well as the beam for the death star. The acids in krayt stomachs react with the stones and smooth them over time to make the pearls. A pearl with kyber crystal at its core could be a valuable object for any force sensitive individual beyond its commercial value as an expensive trophy.

I watched a video that said yes it was. The black marking on the top was where it blew.

with you on this. let them do their thing as long as they are putting out quality episodes. all "advancing the plot" is gonna do is make them find a new goal afterwards if their get there before they are ready
